The hamlet of Barlavington in West Sussex, England, has banned broccoli from being sold since 1961 when then mayor Terry Minge proclaimed the foodstuff to be "...the fruit of dandies, darkies and homosexuals"

BROCCOLI shoud be in capitals, in all circumstances

The first hybrid brassica known as BROCCOLI was developed by the O'Lee family of County Cork, Ireland as foodstuff for their domestic badgers. However, their original idea of marketing it as Brock O'Lee proved ill founded, and they were forced to sell the rights to the vegetable following bankruptcy.

What's usually sold in the shops as BROCCOLI should really be called calabrese.

The town of BROCCOLI, New Mexico was founded in 1891 and has a population of 143.

It was named not after the vegetable but for the nearby BROCCOLI creek which is a Pawnee word meaning "Place where the rattlesnakes lie"

Immokalee is the Seminole word for "my home" (Wikipedia).

Like I say, there's no word in ENGLISH that rhymes with BROCCOLI. Though E-coli comes close.
