Annoying draw when we have the prospect of a really good run. Can beat them though so still might happen. Just hope it gets moved to Sunday as I’m working on the Saturday.

Must be a fair chance as Villa will be massively resistant to a Sunday match as they’re likely to have a Champions League tie on the following Tuesday or Weds. Tinpot Todd FC don’t have to worry about that.

I just had a look 11 voted for Chelsea, WHY?

I agree with you and the majority who wanted an easier tie (obviously) but there actually is an argument that can be made for wanting to face big clubs in the earlier rounds (ie 4th round ->quarters). @Mustafa II thinks we will be going to the semis at Wembley regardless of who we face in the earlier rounds - with our current squad this season, personally I think that’s a very outside chance - Even if we did get to the semi‘s (or finals!) how many Brighton fans will actually get tickets for Wembley or be able to afford them at all?

A draw against a big Club at home, ensures at least one draw in the competition against a top side that the majority of Brighton fans can be assured of getting to so the atmosphere should be good (hopefully) and the football a decent level. Pretty sure a draw against Chelsea at home will have a bigger match pull for Brighton fans than Cardiff City away.

But like most, I will be very disappointed to see us go out before reaching 1/4 or semi-finals.

There’s a lot of defeatism here about being drawn against Chelsea. It’s a tough one for sure but they’ve just been beaten by Ipswich and Fulham, and drew against Palace and Everton. Yes, they had a good run earlier in the season when they won 5 in a row or something but they’ve gone off the boil. At worst, I’d call it an evenly matched contest. And we should have Welbeck and March back in the starting XI by then.

it’s a cliché but if we’re going to do well in the cup we need to beat some strong sides. I’d not get the same pleasure getting deep in the competition by being constantly drawn against lower-league sides.

And I bet you anything that most Chelsea fans are moaning like hell about being drawn away at Brighton.

If it's anything like the Liverpool tie - loads of NSCers will suddenly start voting Chelsea....

It's not a bloody competition!
No, it's not. Which makes it all the odder that 16 have now voted to say that they 'wanted to face Chelsea in R4', whereas it was 0 at the point Chelsea came out of the hat....

Or, even worse, Thursday, Monday, or Tuesday night !!
The ties are 7th to 10th, so Friday to Monday

I actually think Man Utd vs Leicester is more likely for the Friday night TBH

I hope the club put out a strong warning no away fans in home areas and no ecceptions. I also hope our fans point these away fans out and the stewards remove every one of them.

Terrible draw but at least it is at home.
Plus, Chelsea won’t like the draw either.

Six ties were televised last year, assume it will be the same this year.

FRIDAY 26 JANUARY 2024
Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City at 8pm on ITV1, UTV, STV and ITVX

SATURDAY 27 JANUARY 2024
Ipswich Town v Maidstone United at 12.30pm on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport
Fulham v Newcastle United at 7pm on ITV4 and ITVX

SUNDAY 28 JANUARY 2024
West Bromwich Albion v Brentford or Wolverhampton Wanderers at 11.45am on ITV1, UTV, STV and ITVX
Liverpool v Norwich City or Bristol Rovers at 2.30pm on ITV1, UTV, STV and ITVX
Newport County or Eastleigh v Manchester United at 4.30pm on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport

I'd struggle to pick only six - there are quite a few ties which either standout or are the kind of game that TV companies who don't get to show live Premier League football like...

Manchester United v Leicester City
Leeds United v Millwall or Dagenham and Redbridge
Brighton & Hove Albion v Chelsea

Preston North End or Charlton Athletic v Wycombe Wanderers
Exeter City v Nottingham Forest
Coventry City v Ipswich Town
Blackburn Rovers v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Mansfield Town or Wigan Athletic v Fulham
Birmingham City v Newcastle United
Plymouth Argyle v Liverpool

Everton v Bournemouth
Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur
Southampton v Burnley
Leyton Orient or Derby County v Manchester City
Doncaster Rovers v Crystal Palace

Stoke City v Cardiff City

I just voted 'Chelsea'

Reason?

Because the poll is still open and we are drawn against Chelsea.

Piss poor poll curation.
Who was the OP?
