Everton snatched a goal and held on for dear life for the three points. No problem with that - we've done it plenty of times. The time wasting is a problem - but that's wholly the responsibility of the referees. Nobody else'd - purely, wholly and 100% their fault.
Time wasting (after a warning) is a yellow card offence - so issue one! And if they offend again, issue a second one, don't go all lily-livered and pussy-footing around it. Yes, somebody will go ballistic when the red is handed out with the second yellow - you will be surrounded by red, screaming, angry faces, but that goes with the job. You can hand out yellows for that too ..........................
Correct too busy showing everyone the watch they got for Xmas….start clamping down on it consistently….not just some initiative at the start of the season that disappears after two weeks

God, can't we just accept the defeat with a bit of grace? We've spent most of my entire life largely playing whatever football we could to try and scrape a point or two and have been regularly exhilarated by ugly performances scrapping relegation.

If we play well and coherently and pick out best team, we win that game. But we didn't. So need to take it on the chin. All the whimpering about Anti-football just sounds like arsene winger after one of his routine humpings at Stoke.

Shit teams got to do what shit teams got to do. Don’t blame them at all and if we were at serious risk of relegation at this point in The season id take it if it kept us up away from home.

Everton did what they had to. Stop us playing which they did, get a goal and protect it which they did. Would have been a hard earned point had Veltnam not given them a pen. They are fighting relegation which we did under Chris and I can remember us doing the same at wolves (if I remember correctly) when we simply didn't get out our own half much?

I can only say I was so disappointed with Saturday's match. Disappointed with Albion yet again failing to beat a very poor team below them in the table. Disappointed with FH and his team selection. The bench was far stronger than the starting eleven.
However, the biggest disappointment was with the tactics of Everton. So Moyes was ecstatic with his team and the result. He should be ashamed of their anti football. The biggest culprit was Pickford with his stupid time wasting tactics. Other players constantly feigning injury and running the clock down. What is up with our refs? There should be more bookings and even red cards for blatant time wasting. We need the Prem/FA to endorse this. We pay good money for our tickets. It is disgraceful that fans are treated to such shoddy playacting and cheating.
Rant over!
In fairness, it's little different to us in the Hughton years. Everton seem to have made a genetic blueprint from it though.

I don't understand why a warning is necessary. The law says ref must give a caution if restart is delayed excessively. Should be more cautions.

Although I didn't enjoy the style of football I understand why they do it.

Remember it well, one of the reasons we stayed up in what was a bleak season
It was a brilliant defensive display, (but very dull) that is completely different to blatant time wasting and cheating.

I feel that has got worse in the last few seasons, since Uni Emery took over Villa, other teams have just copied him

We were really despised for a Molyneux game, was it in 2019?
Yes, I think that was a 0-0.

I try to forget that season. Albion stunk the league out. I did wonder that had it not been for that tragedy Cardiff may have finished above us. I don't think anyone would have missed us at that time.

Even CH thought it to an extent. Someone took me to a meet CH evening in a lounge, April 2019. He candidly mentioned the three 1-0 home wins autumn 2018 as being unacceptable performances. Unknowing he had weeks left in the job.

Way more than an even chance of that, I reckon.

Yes, and I think that's what Tony saw. He just couldn't see it getting better.

We are on the cusp of greatness/entitlement.
Its a bell shaped curve.

(And possible a bell-end shaped curve)

Their tactics and disrupting the rhythm of the match totally ruined the game as entertainment. I travelled a couple of thousand miles to see this match at the Amex. It really was rubbish as a spectacle. If only Albion could have taken the lead it would have been so different so we only have ourselves to blame. Ended up totally playing into the oppositions hands.

Pickford has become a panto act over the past number of years that they have been shit. Plays it well to wind up opponents and slow the game down. His status as England keeper gives him far more latitude from refs. A goal or two would've shut him up!

This is not just reactionary after the Everton game and isn't just aimed at Everton; they can play however they want, and if they want to stick 11 men behind the ball that's their prerogative, it worked for them as well so they won't care one bit. But the timewasting is killing football and is now being used as a 'legitimate' tactic by the majority of teams, with Arsenal now using it as the cornerstone of their play. Something drastic needs to be done, whether it's a ref actually sending someone off for timewasting or the laws changing so the clock stops when the ball is out of play.

Hurzeler said in his post match comments that the ref said he wasn't going to send anyone off for timewasting- so what's the deterrent?
