Whatever the reasons Evan’s body language and commitment has been pretty shit for 90% of the time I’ve seen him on the pitch for Ireland or the Albion this season, which isn’t that much in fairness. Something definitely off with him comparing him to how he arrived in the PL imo

I think Fab has made it clear in a number of interviews that he both values and will likely only play forwards who are committed to counter-pressing to win the ball back higher up the pitch and reduce/slow the options for a transition/counter-attack when we lose the ball. He praised Danny in today’s Ipswich presser for a 60/70 metre sprint to help our defence and it was interesting that he commented on both Danny’s age and that younger players can learn from his attitude. Similarly with Julio he pointed out that his goal against Norwich came from an effective counter press. Evan hasn’t really shown that particular commitment in the games he’s played and that may be a significant factor in whether he goes out on loan and which club would best suit him if he did.
I think you're right but, for whatever reason, Evan hasn't looked particularly match sharp for any of the games he's played over the last 18 months. Maybe it's his injury, maybe he's just not used to that particular style of play? Counter-pressing relies, not only on the will to perform it, but the fitness to press high and hard for large portions of the game AND defend hard when needed. Ultimately only game time will get Ferguson to those levels, and Welbeck is far ahead currently

This season Evan has made 12 appearances in the Premier League. He’s started 2 matches and been a sub in 10. I don’t think he would have appeared at all if there were any concerns over being injury free, the club has been very cautious about bringing players back too early. You’re absolutely right about match fitness but I think we all want to see an energy and desire to make an impact from our subs. That happened for Evan against Wolves in him scoring of course but he needs to make more of an impact by bringing energy and fresh legs to our preferred high press. Those cameos are the opportunity to make a statement to the coaches that you deserve more game time.

Letting him go out on loan to give him game time to Arsenal or West Ham. Here’s a novel idea, play him? Pedro semi injured, Welbeck not 100%, if he’s good enough for either of the potential loan teams then he’s good enough to start for us surely?

Isn't he injured?

We have played him, and he's not been very good.

Yes when I first read that it did make me think and I tend to agree - in fact the opposite of when Enciso comes on because he is like a live wire and Ferguson seems more like Harry Kane lumbering around

I remember Sami Hypia saying he couldn’t see the hype about Will Buckley when he took over.
Who do you trust the rest of the coaches in the PL whom all seem to want him or FH?

then why would he good enough for Arsenal? it's a fair question, if good enough for rivals, should be good enough for us.

i think it's more about style, he doesn't fit our play.

It's not as simple as that though, is it? Fact is he is nowhere near as good as Welbeck at the moment. Or Pedro. So where would you fit him in?

All the stuff about how he doesn't chase down loose balls and run around like a headless chicken like he used to though, has anybody considered that maybe he's been told not to? Either due to injury recovery or a tactical reason?

What style would that be because it’s not working very well, maybe it needs changing.

I certainly don't trust the idea that he's being considered - seems unlikely to me but i can see why its being discussed) for a loan because Hurzeler doesn't "want him". and he can't see what other coaches can.

Three or four 90 minutes of football the average pro footballer needs to get back to match sharpness.
He’s had nowhere near that.
If we are writing this season off as most people have get him in and get him scoring.
Welbeck isn’t the future.
