Sure. But my point is that someone who seemed to be - according to some - surplus to requirements at Chelsea - suddenly because an important player for them.

I doubt Fergie is on peanuts here now and I also doubt WH could offer 'mega bucks' if you're thinking he'd go there for financial reasons.

Colwill was never surplus to requirements, only some Albion fans said that with no knowledge, often a fantasist theory of Colwill + cash swap for Caicedo. He was only 19 when he was loaned to us, highly regarded through all the England age groups. The moment he played well for us, his fate was sealed, they were never going to sell. Especially with their shambolic defence 2022/23.

Called by many here in summer 23 …. the Chavs would have both Caicedo and Colwill in their squad.

Looks like this has come via his agent...

He...."is not sure he has a long-term future at Brighton under Fabian Hurzeler. But he would prefer to make his decision in the summer rather than now.

Ferguson is aware that a decision may be taken out of his hands if Brighton accept an offer for a permanent deal..."
Reposting from earlier in the thread. My take on this is might he might come back if FH is gone next season.

We dodged a bullet with Colwill when you consider JPVH signed a new contract once it was clear Colwill wasn’t coming here. I doubt he’d still be here if Colwill had signed.

In fairness I would have taken Colwill at the time though as I had no idea if JPVH was any good at the time. Hindsight eh
