Ethnic Minorities and CCTV

Britain,the most watched country in the free world....more CCTV cameras here than anywhere else in the free world.
I can't believe many on NSC just accept/approve of this situation...is it just the younger generation who know no different.
When you say'I don't care I've got nothing to hide' or 'if you do nothing wrong you've got nothing to fear',just be careful what kind of society might develop in your lifetime!

You're talking complete nonsense, just under 90% of criminals are white, I believe that Asians make up two or three percent of offenders. They are, on the other hand, more likely to be victims of crime than any other ethnic group, so placing cameras in these areas could be useful in detecting offences against them.

I'm not for one second suggesting Asians commit 99% of crime in this country. Read the thread FFS before you comment next time

As I said before.. tough shit.

So we stop looking for terrorist cells, in case we hurt the feelings of a few people? If they have nothing to hide,why fell persecuted. Every time I leave my house, I'm probably on CCTV and I don't feel persecuted, so why should they.

That'll sound good on the news if we have another terrorist attack that kills or wounds hundreds,if the head of the anti terrorist squad comes on and says "well we sort of knew where they were, but couldn't keep tabs on them because a few of their neighbours got upset with the CCTV. But if wehad cameras it could have led to them being stopped"

That'll sound good to everyone whose had loved ones blown up, or end up wth arms or legs.

Having all these cameras in asian only areas only further alienates that community painting every asian as a potential terrorist.

I live in Kemp Town and we do have cctv so what does that paint me.

I think its fair to say that a society where the citizens are under constant surveillance from the Government ends up very f***ed up. There's a brilliant documentary called "Taking Liberties" by Mark Thomas which talks about this and all the laws that New Labour introduced that are eroding our civil liberties.

It can change the mind. If someone knows that there are cameras as a security measure then he/she will definitely think twice before committing any crime as they will definitely get caught.

CCTV is there to either discourage crime or help detect the culprits, if you're doing nothing wrong then where's the worry ? Of course if the crime rate goes up in the areas where the cameras are being banned from then so be it.

I think you're right but at least it helps catch the criminals. One reason why CCTV exists is to try and prevent racist attacks .... ohh.
