Just need Root to get back to getting some decent scores, and this has the potential for a decent battling line-up.

Sibley.
Burns.
Crawley.
Root.
Pope.
Stokes.
Butler.

Shame the bowling still seems it’s going to be going through transition. Need Archer to become consistent and Wood to stay fit.
(I’m thinking post Anderson/Broad).
Yeah I love Woody. His bowling, his attitude and he's quite handy with the bat as well. Shame he's constructed from balsa wood and Weetabix.

The top three are still not settled yet. India will be the carbon test. As for the Ashes, there's a huge stuffing with that 7. Mind you, there's normally a huge stuffing over there anyway.

Pope is the best of the recent intake. A couple of really good innings peels no potatoes for me where Buttler is concerned. He is not our best keeper.

All the Pakistan players went over to congratulate him. They must have been glad to see the back of him!

Nice touch of Pakistan to congratulate him as he walked off.

359 partnership - best ever by England against a team from the sub-continent.

And gone, finally. Just the 267 then.

It was coming. He looked really jaded. Not surprised really. Probably the longest he's batted. The reverse sweeps looked a little zany. I think he was almost relieved to take a rest. I wouldn't want to go straight back out there. I think there's another 30 odd overs today.

Buttler's batted for a day and will have to keep straight after this innings. I expect to see him start throwing the bat.

Long old innings. Crawley had a couple more hours. Buttler is such a fit player, mind.

I'd bat on after tea. Leave a few overs at the end of the day. Like I said, 600 would rub their noses in it. Although could be all out before then. Very absorbing this.

Don't you just love Test cricket ?

Again, credit to the England coaches. Buttler is playing a proper test innings here, 7 hrs, 140 runs, steady, patient. Massive improvement in application from all the batsmen.

530-5, 150 to Buttler, 173 is best score by an England WK (Alec Stewart of course). Pull your finger out, half a dozen balls will do it!

Oh Bugger...
