I'm a bit concerned about the Saffers bowling.... V D Philanderer has obviously bowled a few maidens and got caught out.

I always felt that the ranking of No1 was a bit like the FIFA football one. Not accurate.

We have been outplayed in virtually every day of the these tests. There is no doubt they are a better side than England.

We've been outplayed by a better side, no disgrace in that but too many of our players have under performed. The openers haven't given us a decent start and our bowlers haven't posed anywhere near the same threat as their's. Broad is bowling at around 80 mph, what's going on with him? Also he's not contributing much as a no.8. As stated by larus the dropped catches haven't helped either. So when Bairstow and Prior whack us to a great win later it'll be only papering over the cracks :)

Current partnership 74 runs, 13.5 overs, RR: 5.34 (Trott 32, Bairstow 42).

We're going to lose (highly likely anyway), but the only slim chance is to put pressure on the Saffers. I like this approach, and it makes it more enjoyable to watch.

Yes they are slogging away like a one day game. In reality the top order batsmen should have got Prior and Broad a smaller target and we could have had a shot.

Another 71 each and this would one of Englands finest games. However new ball around tea and momentum may play a bigger part.

Would the draw not be better in the long term, I think our next test series is in India and SA go downunder to play the Aussies, win our series and we could be back on top.
