Pity - that's a great inning from Bairstow.

Enough to keep England in with a vague chance in the game.

Going to have to bowl SA out for something pretty small!

How close to 1 o'clock does it have to be for SA not to start their second innings before lunch?

Be nice to get to parity, or even a miniscule lead, but close enough to make it interesting I guess. Really need Andersen, Finn & Broad to perform this afternoon.

England 298-9... the tail has wagged pretty effectively.

SA lead on first innings by just 11, with the best part of 8 sessions to go... all four results are still possible.

The next few hours are absolutely pivotal for the match, series and World No. 1 position.

Swann strikes, Smith out lbw for 23. Cricinfo says "flatter, angled in at the stumps, rush of blood for Smith, who sweeps wildly and is hit on the front pad".
FOW 46 for 1.

Good that Swann is in the game so early, he's going to be crucial in help controlling the flow of runs.
