England
Firstly let me clarify me usual standard position.

Freindlies BORE me. I watch them but I don't make sure i'm home for them or particular care (unless an exciting debutant is being played).

However, if you can't find ANY interest in watching England vs BRAZIL then you are never going to be bothered about ANY friendly, thus complaining about it seems pointless.

This is the most interested in a friendly I've been for a LONG time. Argentina where we won 3-2 (or was it 2-1) was probably the last one with Micky Owen scoring in the last minute.

But this is BRAZIL. Sure they don't have a classic number 9 to drool over like previous generations but they have NEYMAR (who i'm certain will be class tonight), Ronaldinho recalled (always fun to watch), Lucas Moura, Paulinho and Hulk(always funny).
I can't wait.

Just read that Gerrard has hailed Jack Wilshire as "world class."

Gerrard's last uttering was to say that with the opening of the new football thingy in Burton there could not be any more excuses as the squad had "world class" facilities (he likes that phrase doesn't he?). The team, rather bizarrely, blamed sleeping pills for a dozy performance against Poland a few days later.

Brazil could field 11 Dustbins Tonight and still Tyldsley and Townsend will be masturbating over how good Brazil are .Why does the fake Irishman Townsend do England games?

I can't understand why there are so many former Ireland co commentators full stop.
Townsend, Keane, Beglin, Lawrenson, Whelan, Hughton etc especially on England games.
When I lived in Ireland I would have Lawrenson co commentating England on BBC and then slagging them off on Irish radio the next day.

You enjoy it.

I won't be watching. And it is possible to post
an opinion about something about which one is not interested/find
irritating. Most comedy is based on that principle. So you are
wrong.

Where did you read that? Because he DIDN'T say that. The verbatim quote: “These young players who all have got huge potential have to prove it in big games in the Premier League, the Champions League and international level, [proving] they’re good enough to compete against other world-class players. Maybe, if they do, towards the end of their career, the tag ‘world-class’ can be given out. I don’t like the ‘world-class’ tag being given out to young players. It’s too soon.”

This.

The anti-England team feeling on this board never fails to amaze/concern me. Trying to work out why people slate them would be a psychologist's dream. Is it as a result of:

1) Having got your hopes too high at a previous tournament and still having bitter feelings?
2) Jealousy of the players involved?
3) Resentment of the players (due to point 1)?
4) Never having an Albion player involved? (imagine the NSC hype if Bridcutt was playing tonight.. then the little keyboard warriors would be interested!!!)
5) All of the above?

Tonight there will be 90,000 at Wembley to see the creators of the game against a team that, over the years, haven't been too shabby! In midfield we'll have a player who, in my opinion, single-handedly destroyed the Albion 10 days ago, and in defence a guy whos picking up his 100th cap for England and has arguably been our best left back ever.

Apart from that, yeah, I don't see what the attraction is.

Seriously, why are ITV bigging this game up? Does anyone really give a f*** about this game? I'd honestly MUCH rather watch Coronation Street.

The problem with England is they would go away if people ignored them......which is what we all should do. Trouble is you think you should make the effort - you know all that patriotic stuff - but we are dross and I don't much care for that with my national team. It's never really bothered me being second best with The Albion, I don't know why. Perhaps someone should explain because it hasn't always been like that with me. Its like a relationship that once meant something but has now long gone. ( not mine obviously J )

I do actually feel sorry for you. Especially when Bloom leaves, a Russian takes over, then pulls out, we slide down to League 2 and are then 'dross' ourselves. Hope you've got something to fall back on.

Spot on. I think for most on here it's point 1 and 3, but they channel it in another way, and find other excuses to avoid supporting their own country. It's truly bizarre. It's like constantly slagging off your own wife, or mum.

Fully back England in all major tournaments, will be at Euro's in 2016, but couldn't really care less about friendlies.

If it wasn't for the fact that i'm at the pub anyway tonight, i'd probably have picked to watch 'Africa' instead on BBC1.

1. Brazil should be up for this because with a home World Cup every one of their players should be out to impress and a decent performance at Wembley won't do any harm in that regard. And it's Ronaldinho's 100th cap.

2. England should be up for this because we haven't beaten them since 1990, our record of P23 W3 D9 L11 is shit, there will be a big crowd, Wilshere is back and it's Ashley Cole's 100th cap.

So worth watching.

Well, England HAVE to play friendlies and you don't really get much more exciting opposition than Brazil.... worth a peek I reckon

I can understand apathy towards England per se, but there's a world of difference playing a friendly against Brazil and, say, Sweden who we play all the time and who are boring as f***.

England friendlies make me lose the will to live.

For my two-pence worth, I think the antagonism felt towards England is based on the fact that our players are some of the most highly-paid (& market-valued) on the planet, yet perform like pub footballers in virtually every major tournament they have reached since 1996.

If the Albion players were the most handsomely paid in English football, yet could never achieve better than a mid-table place in The Championship... do you not think we would start to feel antagonism towards them?

Add to that a group of individuals so THICK and out of touch that they regularly label their England colleagues as "world class" despite CLEAR evidence to the contrary (Ashley Cole excepted)... and its to be expected that people will tire of them.

Is it just me or do we play Holland every bloody year now?

On this whole 'World class' thingy.....Wiltshire most definetly is the only Englishman around or even on the horizon who might have a shout on that one although he's got a little way to go yet.
