Twinkle Toes
Growing old disgracefully
Yeah, bless 'em foregoing their well-earned 5-Star month in the sun. Makes you right proud dunnit?
I just believe Capello would get more out of his players if he just cut them some slack instead of treating them like school kids.
Probably pissed off because he's not allowed to shag any African grannies.
Trouble is though, they're so chavvy they can't be given any slack, they'd only end up on the front pages for all the usual reasons.
I think he has lost the dressing room, perhaps not in such spectacular fashion as Domenach but he still lost it all the same.
Terry can't be happy at losing the captaincy, Green situation, Joe Cole not getting a look in, Gerrard playing on the left & James's interview, it all points all points to disharmony.
I don't disagree, to be honest.
But I just think if you are managing a hunch of footballers, who've been together for a month already, just let them let of some steam and bond every few weeks.
A night of beers, fancy dress, stupid games, get an inpressionist their to take the piss out of Capello and the coaches etc etc etc.
No training the next day, just a team game of golf or whatever.
Just a break from Capello's stuffy regime and install a bit of 'in it together' mentality.
I have no idea, but would the Spanish and Germans do that?
David James certainly sounded royally f***ed off in his interview. Capello has clearly lost the morale of the squad. Do we not want our players to have fun and bond into a team so that maybe we cab actually play like a team? Or are we all just jealous that they earn much more than us so want to see them have a miserable time as some sort of pennance to make us feel better.
If the players are bored and it's affecting the performance then capello should be put under pressure to bloody well do something about it! Stuart Pearce should take then out on a bender.
From what I've seen of Terry he should have been left at home with Walcott, so he's got nothing to be unhappy about.
The Spanish have a room at their hotel were the players can go for beers and to play cards etc. The manager knows about it, but never goes in. It operates a curfew and the players don't abuse it. (This is were it would go wrong with In-ger-lund!)
