There was a Dutch band that had a UK No.1 single which stayed at the top for 6 weeks in 1976.

Pussycat they were called. Any old farts remember 'Mississippi'?

Very much so, but no way was it number one for 6 weeks - 3 or 4 maybe. They were the first Dutch band to make number one in the UK. And it replaced Abba's Dancing Queen at number one, in a Eurotrash love-in.

The two biggest bands over here today are probably Kane (U2 wannabes) and Within Temptation (symphonic rock with a girl singer who thinks she's Kate Bush). Has anyone in the UK even heard of either of them?

Struggling to like a single band (that I've heard of) named on this thread. It seems the Dutch aren't as good at music as they are at Football

The Dutch 'creative arts' pretty much died with Van Gogh in 1890. I've lived here 20 years and each year I become ever more convinced of this fact.

And it's f**king Carnaval again this coming weekend - four days of watered down shit beer, hilarious clown costumes and ruddy oompah music...

I can barely contain my excitement.

I once saw the world's alleged loudest band (at the time) Blue Cheer at a festival in Nijmegan. I have to say they blew away the Who's version of Summertime Blues for sheer energy and volume.
