Silly old bat
Shouldn't be surprised, but f***ing hell, there's evidence of the hypocrisy of the man. Supports building of casinos and nightlife in a Muslim region. And yet his thoughts on foreigners integrating in the UK:

"Challenged about the economic benefits of migration and its contribution to the economy, Farage said: “Even if somebody argues overall our GDP has grown, there is more to this country and the makeup of communities and our way of life frankly than just GDP figures.”

Asked if he could name any places changed culturally by immigration, Farage said: “Well, we haven’t got time but if we went to virtually every town up eastern England and spoke to people about how they felt their town or city had changed in the last 10 to 15 years there is a deep level of discomfort because when you have immigration at this sort of level then integration doesn’t happen.”"

I agree. I try not to copy over stuff from Twitter (I refuse to acknowledge Musk) but it was the only evidence I could find of him saying it. It could be AI but I doubt it.
As you say, hypocrisy at its height. As bad as Tice & Oakeshott migrating to Dubai, although they aren’t advocating genocide to achieve their aims.

I'll wager that once this is sorted out (I suspect it isnt yet) we will be talking about women's sport a whole lot less.
So what?

Does it matter if a bunch of blokes are talking about it

The only thing that matters is that it’s fair and more importantly safe for biological women

In my opinion, it’s because when the likes of Lia Thomas began competing this conversation had not been had. There was no frame of reference or “case law” for how trans athletes would fare competing in top level sports. There was quite literally no measure of fairness until groups campaigned against it on the sporting principles of fairness.

The conversation is happening because there were no rules in place before, and when this happens again, rules need to be in place for fairness for everyone, including the trans athlete(s).

It’s better to be prepared with rules and regulations clearly defined for everybody than wait for the next big controversy.
its a shame thqt the sporting bodies were not prepared with defined rules and regulations so this issue couldn't be weaponised.

It matters when the issue is being used as a political tool. Which was my point as a bloke with limited interstes in womens sport i have to wonder why i am so consistently asked to have an opnion on this, and why i see it discuss so much more widely that my interest warrants.

Almost like it isnt about womens sport at all.

Trump claiming he will enforce sanctions on the international criminal court. Tgat should be interesting as the US are not members. I presume he will target the judges, who will be fine if they avoid the states.

Frankly most people should avoid the states for the next 4 years.
Didn't make much news last time, but I think he did it before in his last term and Biden reversed it.

Why should people avoid going on holiday to America? What do you think will happen to them?

It’s live in a bubble time here on NSC ! !

I have seen Sharon Davies discussing this several times over the last few years and it is beyond belief to me that it is even a debate whether men who are pre op and self identify as women are allowed to compete in women’s sports. I’ve never even met anyone who thinks it’s ok.

All the years decades and centuries of women’s rights and this is where we are? It takes someone to stand up and say “actually, no that’s not ok”

Trump is a dangerous hooligan of a politician but even a stopped clock is right twice a day

Aren't we further on from 'no its not okay!' though we seem to have been at that point for a long time.

for we at sould be more at the point of finding a workable solution that accommodates everyone fairly.

The fact that this hasn't arrived yet surely means that it's more complex than we assume. Or that the discussions being generated are not aimed at finding a solution?

I am not convinced Trumps oversimplistic blanket descison is going to be the answer. i dony feel he ia qualified to find a compromise to accomodate and unite all sides, this isnt his skill set.

You literally said and I quote “ why am I consistently asked to have an opinion on this” you are not so you don’t need to comment

I do have a very strong opinion on this that is why I’m arguing my point

I don’t want to put you on ignore and apologize for for being abrupt but to me this is an emotive subject

For clarity, My interest in this subject lies in the disproportionate amount of discussion around it compared to the actual impact it has on people and sport.

I think it is an issue that has been amplified out of all proportion for nefarious purposes, 30P Lee spoke of this before the last election as one of the Conservative's strategies to win the last election. I have very strong opinions of being manipulated for political gain.

I guess where we agree is that we would both like to see this issue put to bed and settled. Given it has been rumbling on for years I can't help but wonder why it hasn't been?

A quick google suggests that things are getting sorted.

It has just been settled in America. It's really very simple. Biological men can't play in female sport

For me, that isn't really settled as that doesn't accommodate trans athletes.

We have also seen that Trump's executive orders don't always stick so I'll call that 'pending' for now.

Would it not be up to trans associations to start their own sporting bodies, obviously with support and guidance from elsewhere?

The answer is to have trans only competitions using their own guidelines, and to form independent associations to accommodate them.
