If he plays like he's always played for us, then I'd be quite happy to offload him to Palace.

But ultimately, what I'd prefer is for him to be dangled tantalisingly under their noses, for them to flog Murray in the belief that it's a done deal, and then at the very last second of the window for Tony Bloom to announce that the deal's off on the basis that theycan't afford him and also because they are twunts, leaving them without any strikers at all, and Football's Funniest Man (TM) weeping into his Croydon cornflakes as their play off hopes disappear out of the window.

That's my plan. I should be on the board.

By the seaside in West Somerset
we have had players before who just didnt settle - it isnt unusual in football.

That said the Mirror is as accurate as the transfer rumours site so woulnt necessarily take too much notice

Really? Get rid ASAP in that case.

I would agree with that sentiment based on what we have seen of Dobbie so far, although to be fair he hasn't had much game time.

Starting a revolution from my bed
Pretty sure Gus signed him in the hope he could play a similar position to 'hole' behind the striker(s) that Elliot Bennett did quite a bit for us in League One.

Sadly, in the few chances he's had, he's done very little to show he's capable of performing in that role anywhere near as well as Bennett did. I'd assume the same is the case in training as well.

If we can get rid and re-coup what we got then it would make sense. I'd rather it not be to Palace though.

When he played on the left of a front three in the Barnes roll he failed to grasp the defensive aspect of the role. In fact he may as well have just stood on the side of the pitch and waited until the rest of the tea got the ball back.
He has shown glimpses of his ability turning away from defenders with a lovely first touch. However of late he looks visibly frustrated, even in the warm up.
I would like to know which position Gus intended him to play when he signed him. Surely top of the diamond is his best role. He is behind Orlandi, lopez in recent games and now Vicente in that position.

Dobbie is a class player, no doubt in my mind. But unfortunately he just doesn't fit into our system. He needs to be played as a second striker dropping a bit deeper. Would be a great signing for Palace, but not sure what price we'd put on him as he's only just joined? Something clearly amiss between the player and Poyet as he's not getting many chances now and dropped off the bench completely recently. He's not a wide player and he's not a lone striker so he just doesn't fit our system. Possibly a bit of a mistake to sign him by Gus bearing in mind our set system and formation.

Really surprised to see Bozza saying he's our highest earner though - if that is the case then we probably should cash in on him now

Dobbie has prior to coming to us, been one of the most effective players in the Championship and crucial in Blackpool's play off success. For that reason alone, I would sell him anywhere but to those Croydon C**ts, if Holloway gets him and turns him back into the player he was for him previously. The crap that is posted on here about Murray is going to be repeated all over again. Anywhere but Palace...

Yeah, and not in any way the player's
How can it be the players fault? What has Dobbie done wrong? Not enough work rate, that's just his game, if Gus wanted a runner he should have scouted Dobbie and realised it wasn't him. Panic buy.

Not enough quality? Maybe if he played in the right position for a sustained period he'd be able to show the quality he has shown at every other Championship club he has played at. This is in no way Dobbie's fault, unless there's something behind the scene's that I don't know about like Dobbie telling Gus he doesn't want to play etc, but that's unlikely.

Why is it unlikely? He's no more or no less likely to have a bit of an attitude than any other player, and people seem quite willing to believe that certain other players have attitude issues. I find it hard to believe we'd be considering letting him go if he was keen as mustard and desperate to make it work, which is why I wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye.

We know from his past that he has ability, but if you look, he's never actually had a single brilliant season or been the main man at any club. He was decent for Swansea in spells, but was never a regular so was loaned to Blackpool, then he had a half decent spell on loan there for a short while. I don't think he's rubbish, in spite of a few of his less than stellar performances for us (I don't care what his natural position is, if you give the ball away as easily as he's done, that's not down to the manager), but nor do I think he's chronically misunderstood.

The truth, as always, is probably somewhere in between.

"Stephen Dobbie is going to be fantastic for us, I am 100% sure of that. It is just a matter of time before he will click in the way we play. He will score a goal and from then on he will be a key part of the future." - Gus Poyet, OCt 2012.
Gus: Dobbie will be fantastic From The Argus)

Unless Dobbie's gone off the rails I can't see him leaving, I don't think Gus would have altered his opinion so drastically in the last 3 months.
Once the fixtures and injuries pile up due to our cup run and bad weather the wider squad will get more involved.

Personally I'd rather have a smaller squad and see our promising youth players get involved.

I can't believe that Dobbie is reputed to be the highest earner at the club. Is that really the case?

We only play with one striker Dobbie seems unable to play up front on his own even more so than CMS so really he was a completely pointless signing hence him being left out of the squad completely now and I expect he rues the day he signed for us instead of Blackpool.

I imagine him and Murray would be perfect strike partners unfortunately but at the moment he's just a waste of wages for us.

Yur right we only play one striker..so it will b interesting to c what happens wen the argentine plays .. Up on his tod? Or alongside CMS..wil b interesting to c ..especially as we've hit a bit if form..Dobbie didn't even make the bench on Saturday b4 the Argie was signed

I thought all the stuff with Hoskins was strange but if Dobbie goes (sold or loan) it will trump that for oddity

waste of time (for dobbie) ,.waste of money(for us , hope not) waste of a good player , and a bit of a blott on gus's record to be honest, very disappointed we couldn't accommodate him to be honest.......if he goes i'll be disappointed.
