"Dobbie told he can leave"

I thought he would be excellent for us but, in hindsight, I was perhaps blinded by his performances for Blackpool. They were a far more attacking side than us and we are never going to be gung ho, hence he cannot be as effective in our system. There is no point in keeping a player that won't be utilised, especially bearing in mind the challenges of FPP. On the wages issue, I seem to recall Bozza saying Vicente was on daft money. I can't believe Dobbie is on dafter money?

waste of time (for dobbie) ,.waste of money(for us , hope not) waste of a good player , and a bit of a blott on gus's record to be honest, very disappointed we couldn't accommodate him to be honest.......if he goes i'll be disappointed.

Agree with that ... of all the summer signings he was the one that I thought might prove the shrewdest. I suspect there's a "story" there somewhere and not just 2 or 3 pretty unimpressive performances

Since he came in late during the transfer window it was up to him to 'earn' his chance in the team, not For Gus to give him a chance.

I simply think he hasn't applied himself correctly in training, maybe poor attitude else he is simply the wrong type of player for us but its probably best he moves on.

thats why 'deadline' day signings are hard, as they have to get used to the way WE play, which is different to a lot of other teams, while not playing first team football, which must be hard

so its a shame

It's the managers fault, absolutely no getting away from that.

In this case I think you are right, but I can live with that. He's made an error of judgement if indeed the reports are true. On the other hand, he may not be on his way out.

I agree, after all the transfers Gus has made, I can let off one or two f*** ups. Dobbie, Harley and possibly CMS are outweighed by Kuszczak, Bridcutt, Bridge, Bruno, Lopez, Vicente, Buckley etc etc. That doesn't take away from the fact we shouldn't be laying into Dobbie for being allowed to leave - it's not his fault.

All those saying we should offload him to Palace will be exactly the same people moaning if he started scoring loads there !!

If he leaves, it wont be for Palace though - can see TB getting involved and telling them to piss off myself.

Holloway is a great admirer of Dobbie having had him at Blackpool but I cant see that we will get the money back for him that we paid irrespective of how much it was we paid.

What a strange post. If you don't know what we paid, why would be sure we won't recoup it?
For the record, I'm reliably informed that we paid £300k for him. He's on a longer contract now, so might easily fetch that, or a bit more.

If anyone offers what we've spent on him so far plus £1, then we ought to take it. There is basically no point in him being here.

Our top scorer???????, ok mate, keep taking the medication.
It's an interesting debate. He cost £2.5 million, for that money you'd expect an excellent Championship striker but in all honesty CMS either isn't that great or doesn't fit into our team. I think it may be the former, he has definitely seemed like the week link in the last (approx.) two months of games

If we can get 300k for him, I think that's a marvellous piece of business. We have effectively bought a player with absolutely no risk involved. If he turned out to be amazing we would have a great player on our books, if it turned out like he has and we get the money back, we have lost nothing. This is totally beneficial transfer which we could have in no way lost. FWIW I can see Holloway paying 300k for him, he's a great admirer and Murray might be leaving.

He leaves and we get £300k for him then no damage done and better than have him sit on the bench or not even that doing nothing

Pretty much that, although ideally we get a bit more, to cover the 4 months wages we've paid him to do nothing, to date.

If we offload him we will be saving (10*52*2.5)=1,300,000 in wages over the next two years on a player than isn't going to play. I'd say if we can get anything for him it'd make sense financially.

I've heard initially a loan deal with a permanent deal to follow at the end of the season . It's not as much as £600 k but if we go up it could reach that . Good business if he turns out as good as FFs !

I always felt he was brought in because he had been in promotion winning sides in this league, and we wanted to have that kind of experience and proven quality at this level to turn to, more as a back up, and probably in the middle rather than alone upfront.

But I think it's credit to other players, who perhaps were not expected to crack on straight away, like Orlandi and Lopez, that we have not really needed him.
