I definitely don't want it. It would just lead to friction in our household, as I'd end up watching football ALL the time!

MotD, as somebody else says, is enough Prem for me, ditto Champs League on ITV, plus UEFA nearly every week on Five.

I have a £16 freeview box, which gives me 30-odd channels, including Sky Sports News and Film 4 which for me are th two best channels to have.

My in-laws have the best deal of all - they have a basic Sky package, but about two months ago some GOON at Sky pressed the wrong button, and now they have EVERY channel, at no extra cost. They'll notice eventually, of course, but its handy while it lasts!

No Freeview or cable out here. So we've been reluctantly lining Murdoch's pockets a few years back. Got the full package (which included a deal more than it does nowadays!) and actually think we get our money's worth for the quality of the TV picture and our use of the Sports Channels. Compared to most other "going out" sort of entertainment, it's not expensive either. Wouldn't touch their broadband, mind.

You sir, are their PERFECT customer. I hope they send you a Christmas card!

Ha ha.

Yeah, my missus sorts out all that sort of PAPERWORK nonsense.

I just give her the MONEY.

I used to have the full package but dropped the movies as I don't watch them. I wouldn't pay out for Setanta as I've little interest in watching Premiership matches. At least there are more lower league matches on Sky Sports now. I think I pay around £38 per month.

Setanta isn't worth the extra £10 if you have sky, they don't get the big matches anyway. It might be if you don't want to fork out £30 at least for Sky Sports.

I stopped paying for Sky in the summer, but still get plenty of channels using the dish.

Sky+ is the greatest invention since pole dancing. Just means that I can view what I want when I want and can dispense with adverts and even the wife can operate it with the minimum of fuss. I pay £42 a month for Sports, Broadband and something to do with the phone. I don’t have the movies though.

I couldn’t be without Sky sports – Yesterday afternoon was a good example with the 2 games of football between the big 4. I couldn’t be arsed to go to the pub to watch it but it was perfect for watching on the sofa at home. The football is only part of it. The cricket is excellent when I am working from home as well as things like the Lions tours & the America’s cup. I even got engrossed in the World Pool Championship when I was off ill a month or so back (and the winner was English which is better than anything we manage in the footy). 10 years ago I got f***ing Grandstand once a week.

And what did that have ? Endless hour upon hour of DRESSAGE, followed by the Nordic Bobsleigh Championships. The vidiprinter at the end was its ONE saving grace in those pre Sky Sports Soccer Saturday days.

Same here with multirooms.

My boy has just spent £50 of his birthday money for a box to be added to his room. The extra tenner a month we will have to cough up each month will be well worth it cos we wont EVER have to watch another episode of Takeshis Castle, Robot Wars and WWE Wrestling never ever ever!!!

The theme music for Grandstand was excellent. Then it went downhill all the way after that.

I cannot believe so many people waste 100's of pounds on sky and therefore adding to the wealth of all those premiership teams and potentially ruining our national side if they all put it in the Forty note fund instead or Murdochs pocket we could buy some extra quality.

Ie.

2 thirds of 5000 fans = 3332 fans (Figures supplied by NSC official poll)

let's say average £40/month Sky package

3332 X £40 = £133'280 x 12months = 1'599'360

1.5m a year has does that sound anyone?
