The complete package with Sports and Movies costs £45 per month, the football alone is worth it, so I do not miss the so called football at Withdean.

Yes have Sky on the £75 no contract deal available at some retailers. Pay £9.99 month for Sultana Sports again on no contract. Suits me.

I think Sky currently has about 7 million UK subscribers - so if the average subscription is coming in at about £40 pm, then that is an awful lot of money ..

£40 x 7 million = £ 280,000,00 per month = £ 3,360,000,000 each year

before expenses of course...???

I think ours costs about £40 for the sky digital thing but I don't pay  I don't have it next to my pc though so mostly just watch freeview other than football + cricket on sky

Of course I bloody have. £53 I think, and I'd pay TWICE that for the privilege of Sky+ alone. You must surely realise that Sky+ is the greatest invention since the light bulb. Nothing else has come close in the last hundred years or so, as far as I'm concerned.

The Humax PVR is arguably better and once you've paid your c£200 you never have to pay another penny. No good for Sky channels though, but top-notch for Freeview.

(No Sky here, just Freeview. Can't imagine ever paying c£45 per month to Sky again)

That means no football. And no movies. I'm sorry Bozza, you'll have to do better than that.

I have about 1000 satellite channels, quite a few fairly decent, have all the Irish and British terrestrials digitally; get all the sports I want. It costs me 18 euro a month - for Setanta. The rest is free. Sky get not a penny from me.

Sky+ is just a knock-off of TiVo, which existed ~3 years before Sky+ did; my non-Sky decoders do it and they never charged me 15 euro a month for the privilidge like Sky used to.

MotD provides pretty much all of the Premiership football I want and ditto ITV for the Champions League. On the very rare occasion there is something I want to watch live I'll go to the pub or watch on the web. The latter is poor, of course, compared to a digital broadcast on a big screen but it does the job.

Movies - I've got hundred of DVDs including numerous films I've never watched. If I had Sky Movies, I can't believe I'd often watch anything, as was the case when I used to have Sky.

Plus you get Film4, which shows some extremely good movies.
