Must have missed that, was brilliant when he first came on the scene but this season I can count the games on one hand where he been quality. Maybe I haven't been going to the right games, or am being a little too harsh.
First 6 months of last season, not this. He's had maybe two performances of that standard this season. Still set up loads of goals though.

Then teams sussed him out.
Run down the line.
Cut back on right foot.
Try and cross it.???
Again in that initial period he was doing much more, he had an unpredictability about him, if he was as some people say on here it wouldn't have taken a scout 6 months to work this out, it would've taken him 30 minutes. There was a real excitement about him, whenever he got the ball there was a buzz. I dunno what happened to that Dean Cox, but I want him back....

Not very clever when we have had three new midfielders join the club in recent weeks. Silly boy :nono:

It maybe the pressure on not being first choice is telling somewhat.

Let's hope he can raise his game to compete with his fellow pros.

The pattern seems we have a problem with our youngsters and they have trouble keeping their feet on the ground. Knight, Jarret, Harding, Hammond, Robinson and now Cox. And all of them their form goes off first then they can’t appear to be able to cope with the criticism

Think Jakey has got through that, he deserves to start as Bowditch is pants

Harding, Hammond, Robinson

think that is a bit harsh on those three - harding and hammond were never dropped during their times here for disciplinary reasons, and both seemed to have the right attitude. harding left to further his career, albeit in a poor manner. hammond wasnt really down to a poor attitude, it was money related and arguably he also wanted to play at a higher level, and robinson has been in trouble with wilkins once and since then seems to have knuckled down

cox just seems to throw the toys out of the pram every now and again when things dont go his way

Ah right, I agree with that - start of last season he really was quality but has been poor for a long time since. How many has he set up this year? I know Forster leads the side for assists but not sure about anyone else.

Hammond was never dropped - fullstop.

The only thing is that he got to big for his boots and started putting less effort in.
We do need the old Dean Cox back though to help for our push for the play-offs.

As far as I was aware, Robinson's issues were never really to do with his 'ego'...

if the rumours are true, then robinsons issues were based around what can only be described as a bloody good effort from him

I just don't agree with some of this stuff about Cox.

For me, on-pitch, he has still been exciting, tenacious and hard-working as any in this team. He runs hard for 90 minutes, and just because he doesn't skin four defenders every time he gets the ball (something some are still demanding) does not mean he is being lazy. We missed him tonight.

Off-pitch is, of course, a different matter.

Officially, Cox has five goals and six assists to his name this season, but as we all know, that doesn't really tell the whole story.

No thats true, however it is a decent indication. Six assists from a corner taking winger really isn't great, which ever way its looked at.

I agree, but we do appear to let them all get a bit big for their own boots.
That, I think is a man management issue. We allow these kids freedom to talk to the press which does not happen say at Man U. Look at Frazer and how many times his opinions have been in the Argus. He has the potential to be the next throwing his toys out of the pram, with attitude.

didnt THREE of those assists come from set pieces against arguably the worst team at defending them in the HISTORY of the game - crewe?

For instance, look at Glenn Murray's second goal on his home debut. It was a nod-on from Forster, who will get the assist. But the hard work was done by Cox, who won't get the assist...

Who got the assists tonight?

1. No-one
2. Richards
3. Fraser
4. Whing

What story does that tell?

It's a classic case of "Small Man Syndrome". Either needs a good f***ing kicking, or be moved on. A Shame but he's well on the way to being another Leo Kinght:afro:

Well given I wasn't about tonight I haven't a clue.

I see your point but a winger playing for a winning side should have more than 6 assists by March, would be interested to see his stats from last year.
