This is on the BBC now. I would say it is a good choice. Not because of Green's f***-up, but because of the defenders confidence is James and his perceived better communication.

Hart was never going to get the nod, Capello was livid at his distribution against the Platinum Stars.

World Cup 2010: David James to start for England against Algeria | Football | guardian.co.uk

David James is set to be handed a shock recall to England's starting line-up for this evening's critical Group C fixture against Algeria after Fabio Capello decided against selecting Robert Green following his costly error against the United States.

The veteran Portsmouth goalkeeper is to replace Green at the Green Point stadium after the England manager opted for experience in a fixture that the national team can ill afford not to win. Capello had been impressed by the manner in which Green recovered his poise following his handling mistake against the US, which presented Clint Dempsey with an equalising goal, but he remained concerned that his defenders' faith in the goalkeeper had been significantly eroded.

Furthermore, Green appeared nervous in front of the media at open training at the ground yesterday, fumbling two shots from Ray Clemence in one of the early drills. While the youngster, Joe Hart, has been consistently the most impressive of the three goalkeepers in training since the squad first convened in Austria ahead of the tournament, Capello has now opted for the 39-year-old James's know-how in the hope he will provide surety as England attempt to kick-start their World Cup campaign.

James won his 50th cap in the recent defeat of Japan in Graz but, having been a regular over the first year of Capello's reign, slipped behind Green in the pecking order last season. Even so, he had been expected to start the tournament as the Italian's No1 and was disappointed not to be selected against the USA in Rustenburg last Saturday.

He will now have his chance to impress tonight. Capello is only due to speak to his goalkeepers later today to confirm who he has decided to pick, with the rest of the side to be informed some two hours before kick-off this evening.

wouldn't be surprised but seeing as how Capello don't name his team till just before would really like to know how they think they know.

Should be Hart. :wrong:

Thats probably the end of Green's England career then, tarnished by one mistake, much like Robinson. :nono:

I've always said (on here) that he would not play Hart at all unless the other two were injured. I stick by that.

Barry is the only certainty, Capello said yesterday he only names his team 2 hours before KO.....so maybe he let slip?!

I don't think we'll be seeing Hart in Goal for England for quite a while, Capello has raised concerns about his distribution, although seems to think he is probably the best shot-stopper we have. His two appearences between the sticks have only reinforced Capello's concerns about his inaccurate kicking.

I imagine he's made an exception to this as it's the goalkeeper, and due to the nature of the change.

A period of his career he's never been allowed to forget unfortunately. Had he not had the surname 'James' the headline writers would have never have had their day in the sun and his reputation might have been marginally better for it. The Scum sub editors must have been up all night scratching their heads and Googling 'Green' in a desperate attempt to come up with something derogatory.

Hart all the way! The outstanding goalkeeper of the season & looks to deal with pressure with ease. I like Coppelo but I don't understand his objections to playing our best goalkeeper? Maybe he'll suprise me.

All still conjecture/bollocks really, but the glimmer of truth is that Green had a dodgy training session yesterday, a friend of mine sent me some footage of it. But maybe that was always going to happen because of Capello's refusal to make an early decision, they're all probably a bit nervous.
