And to what level did Jose Mourinho 'play the game' ?

Interestingly enough, he made nearly 100 appearances across 7 seasons in what would probably be our Conference Prem or League 2. He wasn't the 'non' player many people think.

If you played at the highest level then I would think you have a greater understanding of what makes a good player/professional, like Mervyn Day who works for him. The guy who did the same job for Oscar at his previous club was Jordi Cruyff and we know he played at the highest level.
So I was just interested at what level DB played himself.

This is slightly misleading. The director of football/head of football operations is above the first team coach in the hierarchy. Cruyff didn't do a job for Oscar, it was the other way round. It's my understanding that Oscar reports to Burke, or that's certainly the way it was supposed to work.

It's certainly the case that Burke reports directly to Tony Bloom.

Who has Oscar got the maximum out of?! Ince and....possibly crofts.

He's also turned Lopez into an awful player.

Poyet had Orlandi and Buckley playing a lot better too.

Terrible examples. Poyet also had Buckley & Orlandi injury free for long periods.

The video he made for the OS and his interview on the Albion Roar have given us a great insight into his role, and the detail to which we go to to identify players for the club. I would imagine that FFP has in effect got him working with one hand behind his back. In other words, we are finding the players but are unable to pay the money that their agents are still demanding. Of course when FFP actually starts in earnest it should have a downward effect on player wages which should make his life easier.

He seems like a highly capable, intelligent and experienced operator, and like Paul Barber we probably don't appreciate what he brings to the club.

.....and no we're not related.

:)
