No judgement is clouded. Tonight was frustrating - god awful in the first half but improved in the second half.

Burke has made good signings, remember he pretty much signed all those last season too. This season the budget is tighter because of FFP. New signings havent bedded in yet and will need time, something must be up with Agustien behind the scenes too.

There is nothing wrong with Burke.

I doubt he had much part in signing bridge, Vicente or ulloa (ulloa was identified 18 months before he joined)

Agreed. I think this thread shows why we got rid of the thumbs down option. It just seems Vulture is giving a thumbs down to anyone who disagrees with him rather than discussing the points. Children shouldn't be given that sort of right.

I would suggest the players we signed last season signed for Gus and not Burke. I bet when players from other clubs are approached and in negotiations now with him, ask who did he play for and what does he know about football.

Of course they sign to work with the manager, so Gus last season. Burke (presumably) has bugger all to do with coaching, team selection or anything to do with tactics, they'd now be signing for Oscar, who somewhere earlier in the thread was stated as having the final say anyway.

With that in mind, you'd have to assume that any player questioning football credentials would be hit with Oscar's CV, not Burke's. That being said, why on earth would a player base a decision on his own playing career using the knowledge of the guy negotiating his contract (presumably with the player's agent, would they even meet Burke?)?

'Yeah you may have a great stadium, a new training facility and ambitions of going further but I just can't sign for a club that employs someone to negotiate contract who hasn't played the game'.

I don't know enough about the recruitment process to criticise David Burke.

But, according to Tony Bloom our playing budget actually increased this season. So don't see FFP as an excuse.

Apparently it has, but the quality is certainly not there, especially in those brought in. It's the young players coming in who have been the major driving force if we achieve anything this season. New signings have had a pretty negligible impact so far. Ward being perhaps the only one. I can't believe that anyone can say we have a stronger squad than last season, if the budget has increased, where has it gone ?

Very few, if any that post here do - it doesn't stop them from whinging about it.

I'm surprised that the whinge brigade haven't decided to step out and start their own side - between the lot there's master tacticians, recruitment and scouting Gods and financial kings, so they'd make a great job of it...Or they'd probably **** it up. Probably the latter.

I can assure you it's the manager.

That won't EVER happen under Oscar and jones.

Poyet would have Kemy ripping teams apart.

Really?

In no way am I saying the signings have been exciting, but Poyet had his fair share of under-performers as well. Dobbie and Harley were signed on big wages, and are similar players to Agustien, and neither delivered.

Oh and as for Poyet maximising Vicente? Even Vicente himself showed his discontent at Poyet's management style.

I don't know either but voted "out" as protest again what appears to be a transfer practice going backwards

It may have been palace mischief making, but even to be linked with signing Wilbraham is shocking.

If there was any truth in it then absolutely Burke Out.

Every player we've signed has been worse than who they've replaced , Ward - Bridge, Andrews - Bridcutt, Obika - Barnes so is it any wonder questions are being asked

Unless we paid £90,000 a week, we were never get a left back as good as Bridge. Ward, whatever his wages are, hasnt been a bad replacement, one of our better players this season.
Andrews wasnt signed to replace Bridcutt, he was here before Gus got the Sunderland job, and Ince was/is his replacement, cost nothing, so good business.
Obika hasnt been signed as a Barnes replacement, he is a short term loan to hepl us through till CMS and Hoskins were fit.

So your whole post is a crock of sheet

It's a tough job. Bring in the best transfers under a tight financial regime. I don't know what more we could ask for on the transfer front. He's having to calculate risks.

On the footballing front elsewhere, let's judge how the training centre brings players and DS players through.

I considered Andrews to be a replacement for Hammond and Agustien a replacement for Dicker.
