But with the signing of dodd it shows brighton are more attractive than you belive - its not just a case of the team but the area.
Would you rather live in sheffield or brighton?

What will probably happen is that players will wait until the last few days before signing to a club. If Brighton made an offer to any player now, the chances are they will ponder it, waiting until maybe a better proposition came in - and if nothing does by the start of the season, sign for us.

We are simply still not an attractive proposition for many players.

Also from a loan perspective managers will wait and see how players perform in pre season before deciding if they will loan out anybody

You don't have to drive too far from most Northern cities to be in very nice areas. Factor in that Brighton is just about the most expensive area for properties outside of Central London.

Dodd was offered more money by Plymouth but decided on Brighton as he didn't have to move. He commutes with Tank I believe.

CKR joined us as much as anything else because we were the only Southern club who were interested in him

Shipperly would be interested in coming here as he would be more or less garrantied first team football and that he wouldn't have to move either.

There are some beautiful areas of Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District.
Away from the city centre Sheffield is quite leafy.
Dore, which is where Danny Cullip is renting a house (or was) is very posh.

If we end up with £250K for Harding I'll be gutted.

I hope that the tribunal come up with a fee of at least £400K - every other fucker from this division who's got into the Under 21s has been sold on for at least double that.

Yes, as usual... think back to last summer, and argue that we really got our ar$es into gear as we prepared for a higher division...

Ended up with extended trials and last-minute signings...

Couldn't agree more, but if we use a conservative estimate of the Harding receipts, then we can free MM's hand in the transfer market NOW...rather than when the FA get off their lazy fat ar$es, and get the tribunal process into gear...

It can be the most beautiful place in the world but the locals inability to use the word "the" is enough for me to give it a miss.

And remind me... were we relegated or did we stay up?

We stayed up!...

Seriously, we got very lucky with the signings of Currie and Nicolas... less successful with others...

Back to today... players are moving on daily, and we are not even in the game at the moment... surely, that is a worry?... I made a sensible suggestion to untie MM's hands in the tranfer market NOW... not suggesting we go mad, just that we don't stop trying to sign players while we wait for the Dan tribunal...

I don't think luck came into it. McGhee knows what he is looking for and it has already been printed in an interview that he is hoping to bring two more signings in the next couple of weeks.

Leeds just forked out 800K + on Robbie Blake so no doubt Captain Birdseye will give it the old we are skint at the tribunal and we will get a bag of magic beans

I think we'll get about £1/3 Million for DH

It would be nice if MM got £1/4 Million of that to spend but I'm not sure he will.

Besides, as has already been mentioned, I don't think we've spent all the coke money yet!

When does the transfer window shut? Last day of August? If so, we have plenty of time to get those Two needed extra players.

PS Don't forget that we have saved wages on several players that have recently departed.

If we only get two more players then this is going to be another long long season! What have we got so far? The new Paul Kitson (groin injury, then toe injury ... ....) and a young (promising, for the future) lad of 18! Compare that to those that have left last season's "small" (and weak) squad.

We have not got plenty of time... ideally, you would bring in players before pre-season starts to allow time to get these palyers settled in... failing that, you need to get your squad together well before the start of the season proper... we really cannot afford to go into our Championship campaign short-handed, as we are now... still need anyhting up to 5 players, according to MM's earlier pronouncements...

1. target man (don't agree with that BTW)
2. central defender (Hinsh unfit, now worried about Virgs)
3. left winger
4. creative central midfielder
5. experienced goalie (I would make this my top priority)

2 players in over the next few weeks sounds a bit worrying to me... too little, too late...

We lost 4 players through retirement last season, 2 sold, at least 1 given the boot, and only 1 in (McCammon)... that means we were at least 6 down by my reckoning... this summer, we have released 2, lost 1, and brought-in 2... so we are at least 7 players down... this is why we need to get our ar$es into gear, and not be left with the dregs...

Now now, you have been told that we must wait until after the tribunal - whenever that will be! Insider says the Club have no news yet. :nono:

And for all of those about to say to trust in MM knowing what he is doing - I do (with reservations - Backgammon anyone?). I just don't trust DK to give him enough money to do his job properly.

I'm gutted that we lost out on big Trevor Benjamin, he was going great guns for us before Judus Adams called him back when we had him on loan.

MM is already on record as saying that we won't be signing another keeper. That was in the Argus about 6 weeks ago. Instead he'll use the kids on the bench and if Kuipers isn't fit/gets injured, he'll loan someone, perhaps Blayney again.

I agree - it is very frustrating not having the Harding cash and Ken Bates is pissing us around but the Football League will know this and Bates has made a lot of enemies in the game. Knight and McGhee are no fools and I think we'll get at least £500k for him plus add ons. All this talk about £ 250K is a joke. The player is an England under 21 international and played more first team games than anyone else last season so we're right to expect a decent return for him.

As for the other signings, as someone once said, keep the faith - they will come.
