Unfortunately I missed Leeds but saw all his other games so I got the impression he was a poor communicator and as such the players in front of him were not confident in his ability. One of the Derby goals at Withdean springs to mind.

Plus he couldn't catch or hold onto the ball....

But to be fair TLO, we are also trying to fleece Leeds into thinking they are getting a decent fullback. Its all cloak and daggers, smoke and mirrors, handbags and EVERYTHING.

If we get half a mill for him, I will be dancing in the streets.
Bollocks to that, Easy. Leeds have conned themselves into thinking they are getting a decent full-back. No-one here ever said he was any good.

It's all that 'fur coat and no knickers' attitude. They see the headlines - 'Harding plays for England U21' etc, and think they are getting something decent. Read beneath the headlines (i.e. actually watch him play - which clearly they haven't), and you will realise what a big drink of water he really is.

Believe me, if we get half a mill, I will be LAUGHING in the streets. But, assuming the tribunal looks at the precedents it has set itself in the past four-five years, we really ought to get more.

We have not got plenty of time... ideally, you would bring in players before pre-season starts to allow time to get these palyers settled in... failing that, you need to get your squad together well before the start of the season proper... we really cannot afford to go into our Championship campaign short-handed, as we are now... still need anyhting up to 5 players, according to MM's earlier pronouncements...

1. target man (don't agree with that BTW)
2. central defender (Hinsh unfit, now worried about Virgs)
3. left winger
4. creative central midfielder
5. experienced goalie (I would make this my top priority)

2 players in over the next few weeks sounds a bit worrying to me... too little, too late...

We lost 4 players through retirement last season, 2 sold, at least 1 given the boot, and only 1 in (McCammon)... that means we were at least 6 down by my reckoning... this summer, we have released 2, lost 1, and brought-in 2... so we are at least 7 players down... this is why we need to get our ar$es into gear, and not be left with the dregs...

Aren't you ignoring the key fact that all the players who have moved on played next to no role in last season's successful defence of our Championship status.

Only Harding is the exception to that and we have already signed an experienced and capable replacement for him.

We are far in advance from where we were last season in terms of signings. Maybe a couple or 3 signings in the next few weeks and some loan deals, which only get finalised once you know the full picture of your signings, and we will be handily placed.

In a perfect world, it would be good to have the players now but this is B&HA we're talking about - the club that came back from near-death and is still on the mend.

My main concern remains goalkeeper and I think the waiting game McGhee is playing is very canny.

Right, so Danny Culip and Darren Currie played no part last year? Ok..... ???

I see what you are saying 3gulls, but I would say this:

1. Pedant nerdy point: Currie wasn't with us at this stage last year.

2. It's also fair to say that the players who came in for those two showed we didn't really miss them, good as they were.

We may not have missed DC but we definitely missed the corner taking and precision passing of Currie imo

Sorry, but i do not agree. Dolan was no replacement for Danny, and we never looked as comfortable in the division without Darren Currie's attacking qualities.

Dolan was toilet. He is at Orient now which is certainly his level from what I saw. Currie was missed but this season Jarrett will shine:drink:

I thought Jarrett would shine last year, looked determined to do something at Crewe, but was never really given a chance to bed into the team as MM was reluctant to play attacking football.
