Seeing as these tribunals tend to side with the purchasing club I agree with Wilka, anything over £250000 is a bonus.

I don't think the tribunal that decided on Gareth Barry favoured the purchasing club. I'm sure they'll take all the factors into consideration - namely that he was established in the BHA first team and was selected for several competitive England U21 internationals. Those facts should ensure that he goes for at least £400K - and I'm very hopeful of £500K.

After that I believe that Leeds will be forced to pay up quite quickly - but I'm sure that MM will be back in the market beforehand as we shouldn't have to pay cash up-front either.

So they don't rate Harding anywhere near our valuation, probably in the region of £500,000 to be realistic.

However, they bid £800,000 for Robbie Blake who is journeyman league forward who's probably had his best spell with Burnley. Certainly couldn't hack it at Brum.

Leeds, theyll get everything they deserve hopefully.

I saw most of Hardings games & if we get 3-400 grand we've had a right touch!

Like the one when Taylor left and we were promised a new top manager - and got Tinselhead, too late to make summer signings.
I think you'll find that Hinshelwood was a stop-gap appointment that DK made when Winfried Schaefer was rejected at the last minute on account of the completely unrealistic personal demands he was making.

Or is that just a rumour?

Tinselhead = DK's biggest mistake, whichever way you dress it up... and I am a big fan of DK BTW...

Back to topic... I think our club should use a conservative estimate of DH's value at tribunal... worst case = say, GBP 250k... give MM whatever proportion of that the board deem realistic given so called 'black-hole'... that would untie his hands in the transfer market in the short-term... if we don't do this, we will miss out on more and more players, who are not going to wait for us to get our act together...

If we get more for Dan (who is a good player, U21, and was a regular in our 1st team, so we will), then MM can be given more bunce later...

No funds now means we will be left with the dregs... of course, we may be lucky again a la Currie / Nicolas, but I very much doubt it...

As usual, the club find a reason not to be proactive, and we are all supposed to be impressed by their inactivity and tardiness...

And, anyway, there were supposed to be funds available to MM before the Dan / coke surprise prezzie's...

Unimpressed... we are currently at least 3, maybe 5 players short of a reasonable Championship squad...

Maybe, just maybe, we are acting too slowly in the transfer market (as usual)...

Although, to be fair, we have made 2 relatively speedy signings (before pre-season training started)... problem is, we still have anything up to 5 gaps in our squad (5 based on MM's earlier statements)...

There were over 500 'frees' (players being released) at the end of last season. And there may well have been some pretty good reasons for these. McGhee enquires after the players he wants or needs. Just because they're available and/or have made a couple of headlines a few years ago, doesn't mean we should be interested.

I agree but players like noel williams (who i believe was on a free) are class players.

im not suggesting wasting money but there are class players out there

I read in the paper that McGhee has said he hopes to make two signings in the next two weeks.
He's been out of the country since last Tuesday.

The way I take this is that we have a budget for players but if the Harding money goes up then we have a bit more and can maybe tempt a more expensive player.

What will probably happen is that players will wait until the last few days before signing to a club. If Brighton made an offer to any player now, the chances are they will ponder it, waiting until maybe a better proposition came in - and if nothing does by the start of the season, sign for us.

We are simply still not an attractive proposition for many players.
