Hello mate Pouge here!

The actual bike shops don't do hires...

However, I have heard good things about this service: https://fatllama.com/lp/brighton-bike-hire

Loads of people renting their bikes out, loads of choice.

Other than that, the only place I can think of is at Stanmer Park. Not sure about their weekly rates, but I have found their website: https://www.brightonbikehire.com/

Hope you can find something from one of these. Let us know how you get on!

An update on this for anyone that ever knows of anyone needing bike hire.

Very few options in Brighton! Brighton Beach Rides offer daily bike rentals, but they cannot be kept overnight. Accommodating and good selection though!

The place in Stamner Park needs a return each night too.

Beacon Bikes will deliver rental bikes to your house in the Brighton area, but don't have too much availability. Also accommodating on cost, and have e-bikes too.

I'm also looking to see if it's possible to make anything work with the Hassocks Community Cycle Hire. There may also be an option in Worthing. Both likely too far for me too bother with the hassle on though tbh.

Once this is booked the fun part will be looking into daily cycle trips. Thinking a ride to, and over, the Seven Sisters. Another to see friends in Worthing. Leaves three more days to play with, with Portslade as the base!

I would offer you The Strat.
But I think you'll agree there's no way to guarantee a Canadian could handle the raw power...

...or that it'll be road worthy in June

Haha, it's a good job I'm not a bona fide Canadian!

It's worse... born in Shoreham and 'raised' in Lancing!

Though the power of the beast is happily all yours! Open to some route suggestions though! 50-100km, some hills, away from roads...?

Edit.

I'm tying myself up in knots here, sorry for looking more stooopid than usual.
I think I've found 'it' but my confidence to shot to pieces.

Can I buy this:-

Put it into here:-

I can't think why this wouldn't work with that new stem fitting a 22.2mm fork? I've actually got one somewhere I was going to use on my Holdsworth that sits in pieces in the back of the shed. Not sure that clamp would work though as it's then a 40mm stem dia.

Actually I'm not sure why I've got involved, I have enough of my own world of pains to be getting on with. :lolol:

edit: I made a cup of tea and looked in the shed and mine is a 22.2mm adapter that has a 25.4mm stem - which is too narrow for the clamp I have!

Bullet dodged then, I only offered as being Canadian I knew it would be returned, clean and serviced!!

Although everything else fits too it and it's a hefty bit of kit.
I'm 99% sure Lathe Man won't suck air in through gritted teeth over this one.

Sussex, by the sea
22.2 turned down to 21mm should be fine. looks to be a good 3mm thick

I assume you will be posing and popping a few wheelies, not trying triple whoops and a 360 spin.

Come on Stat, sort it out.....
Well that's proper shitehouse.

If I had a fluckin lathe it would be finished by now - as would be most of my fingers.

Once I've got the stem in I just need 10 minutes to cable the brakes and my glorious eclectic mess of a bike will be finished.

The rest of it has come together brilliantly.
I've loved the distraction of looking at old BMX parts.

Just one flippin part and it's really taking the fun out of the build.

I'm very tempted to do something like this . . . .

skyway tuff II's and shopper bike white wall tyres.

I lead others follow...

... don't think it'll get you automatic entry into my gang.

FFS - I even put up an ad locally for 'Lathe Person'.

I finally got a reply from someone saying:-

'I can't help you, but if you find someone, let me know'.
