I’m a bit of newbie cyclist. What tyre pressure should I be looking for pumping them up. Bike is a hybrid and I pretty much ride exclusively on road.

The sidewall of your tyres will show the recommended min and max pressures. The closer to the maximum the more you will feel the bumps and potholes, but puncture resistance would be increased. Towards the minimum pressure the ride won’t be so harsh, grip will be better, but puncture resistance declines. Harder tyres may roll a bit better and improve efficiency. I’m sure that others will be able to add to this. Never inflate tyres outside of the recommended range.

Not wishing to sound like a complete tool, cos we don't do that here, but...

...what does it say on the tyre?

To make up for that, do make sure you keep your tyres fully inflated.
Not checking for a month or two is the easiest way to get punctures and also make the riding harder than it needs to be.

Cheers both. Didn't realise it was on the tyre itself :dunce:

And the answer is Min 50 -> Max 85 psi

Had a bit of a mare on mine recently, been riding in to work for the last two months mainly. To save fuel and also get a bit of exercise. It had been a really good couple of months, hadn't rained, wasn't that windy, it was a bit cold and catching Covid didn't help but overall it was going great. Until last week.

Rode in for a night shift and managed my fastest time since I started riding again, that should have been a warning sign, got on the bike the following morning and as soon as I put pressure through the pedal to get going the chain snapped, just what I want after a night shift and no other way to get home apart from the bus, not something I'd want to suffer at 6am after a draining shift.

Managed to get a lift with a colleague in the end and picked up the bike that night and thought it'd be a nice and easy fix with the spare chain I've got at home, nope, cassette was worn so another £70, that arrived today and I managed to get it on the bike with ease, no issues swapping them out and no chain suck so I didn't need to replace the front chain ring. Test ride went fine so I thought I'd torque the rear through axle to spec ready for when I was going to ride in next.

I ended up stripping the hex head on the through axle, I made a nice new quick release for it though.

With all the money saved on fuel over the last 2 months I'm only £20 worse off after replacing various bits.

Not gonna go full tourettes cos I've just ridden the beast.

But my rear brake cable isn't long enough to go through the internal cable housing, so it looks very shite.
(Plus the fact I didn't cut the front brake cable short enough! ).

But one more cable and I'm there. :rave:

Looks impressive. I’d like a closeup if the headset please.

I'd give a full guided tour when the t's have been crossed and I's dotted.

I've busy weekend ahead so maybe Saturday lunchtime but more likely Monday evening!
