I see the Tour de France route was revealed this morning. Start in Denmark, head towards cobbles and then Planche des Belle Filles, before Alpe d'Huez. Time trail (once more) on the day before Paris.

I have been a bad cyclist this year - only getting out once! I am blaming the young'un for joining a football team. Hopefully I'll be better next year.

Looks like the west of France will be a little miffed by that route.

I was over the moon to see the tour going to Dunkirk / Calais and Lille on the 5th & 6th July - meaning a great chance for us Brit fans to get over and watch a couple of stages instead of just the one day.

Then I realised I dont leave San Diego until the 6th, so basically missing the whole first week

Bugger.

Right. In addition to 2021 being a disaster for mile munching due to illness, mechanicals and shite weather, my latest preventing reason is a puppy addition to the house - completely fukked up my rolling options. I might be able to do two a week only now. I did one today - first for ages - and 'felt it' afterwards. I can handle a flat 50 but can't 'step on it'. I'm not happy and will turn it round.

Sake. As I felt that a pattern of exercise was returning...

Anyone kind enough to be a strava chum can see this morning's abortion.

Don't want to lose this, so I'll put it here without comment for the time being.

I wish I could claim credit as that is literally at the end of our road. But I didn't take it.

The other year I did report a hole to the council with a photo attached of a coke can stood upright in the hole and coming level with the tarmac. They responded that it wasn't dangerous. I responded that for cars, maybe not, but for cyclists, yes.
It did eventually get fixed mind.

UK cyclocross champs at Ardingly weekend after next. Worth going? Always fancied watching cyclocross in Belgium but this may be a taster

https://cyclocross24.com/race/great-britain-national-championships/

I went to an event in Southampton x years ago.

T'was a full day, kids, chicks, amateurs, 'pro's'.

It was a most enjoyable watch.

There was one lad who was phenomenally good, won something like the under 14's, could have won the under 23's.
The 'pro' race had Thingy Field (?) riding and 2 fellas from Belgium clearly there to hoover up easy World Tour points, there was a lot of lapping of the field.

I'd imagine the standard of the 'others' has raised considerably since then, so I say definitely go for it.

I noticed an event at East Brighton Park whilst watching one of my sons playing football at Stanley Deacon few years ago. Looked fun. This'll be a different level I guess as nationals
