If Corbyn takes a slice of the 'Loony Left' with him, it leaves the Starmer party even closer to the soft middle... and a shoo-in.
If Jezza launches a new, left of centre party, will it lead to another Tory led government? If rumours are true then JC might just launch a new proper socialist party for those not satisfied with Starmers Labour option.
So exactly like most teams on The Apprentice, then?'momentum' always sounded like one of the teams of 'The Apprentice ' to me.
Then I met a few of them.
They're not that bright.
I am not sure what proper socialism means but Some argue that there has been no completely socialist country that has been successful, only countries that have seen success in adopting socialist policies.
Bolivia is an example of a prosperous socialist country. Bolivia has drastically cut extreme poverty and has the highest GDP growth rate in South America.
Other countries that have adopted and enacted socialist ideas and policies to various degrees, and have seen success in improving their societies by doing so, are Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.
Democratic Socialism has given the uk its Health Service, Pensions, Paid Holidays, Sick Pay, Reduced working hours, health and safety standards, universal education, social care, disability benefits, unemployment benefits, a national railway system the list goes on.
All while the right of British politics has fault against these public services and even worse has dismantled many of them.
most if not all of these Were provided by a democratic socialist government of the type advocated by Jeremy Corbyn, just saying like.
There's also the Socialist Party, formerly Militant, formed when they were kicked out of Labour. They still stand in elections under the name of TUSC.Can I point out there already IS a left-wing alternative to Labour? My old lot Socialist Labour, started by Arthur Scargill as a pushback against Blair when he abolished Clause Four.
Remind me of Sir Keir's immense achievements. Genuine question.……
As for Starmer. I actually like him. What he has achieved in less than 4 years has been immense. He may not excite but he doesnt repulse. No party has ever won an election in the uk without winning the centre ground.
Dragged a party that had just suffered its worst result in decades to a point that it is electable. Has largely quelled the infighting. Has a set of policies that are realistic and focussed on delivering the greater good to the greatest number of people and still has the right wing press after him.Remind me of Sir Keir's immense achievements. Genuine question.
He's ahead in every opinion poll out there by miles. If the election was tomorrow he'd walk it.Remind me of Sir Keir's immense achievements. Genuine question.
In short he got rid of some of the barmy left, which some on here think are great. Peter Pan angry students.Dragged a party that had just suffered its worst result in decades to a point that it is electable. Has largely quelled the infighting. Has a set of policies that are realistic and focussed on delivering the greater good to the greatest number of people and still has the right wing press after him.
took a party that got absolutely mullered at the end of the general election and got it to the point where it should walk the next election. Largely quelled the infighting and improved the reputation of Labour with the general publicRemind me of Sir Keir's immense achievements. Genuine question.
I resigned from the Labour Party after Starmer eulogised Thatcher. That's unforgiveable.
I condemn all cheapening and all hobbyhorses.Except people like you who make these points ever state what the “interference” actually was. And there’s a reason for that. The interference was Corbyn’s office trying to press the dysfunctional Labour bureaucracy into speeding up an antisemitism disciplinary case because they believed Livingstone had made unacceptable statements that weren’t being dealt with quickly enough.
The background is that Labour’s disciplinary bureaucracy was fully in control of the Labour Right until 2018, ie. The majority of time Corbyn was leader. It was their negligence that was responsible for the delay in dealing with the small number of antisemitism cases in the party.
Antisemitism is a very serious issue. The fact that it’s being cheapened by being used as a hobby horse to attack politicians whose political ideas you don’t like is an utter disgrace and in the long run will only weaken defence of Jewish communities in this country from prejudice and racism
No, the Tories have achieved that for him and he has no discernible policies.Dragged a party that had just suffered its worst result in decades to a point that it is electable. Has largely quelled the infighting. Has a set of policies that are realistic and focussed on delivering the greater good to the greatest number of people and still has the right wing press after him.
