Who would you have instead then tel?
O
The guy has 11 goals, creates as well as scores, no one in our side is prolific. So what do you want instead? Which player would you have spent 3 mil on to bag loads of goals?

Get real mate, he's a class act. I've never seen a player hustle and harass the oppo sinse Kevin Bremner, and he had Nelson!

So stop expecting a goal a game and enjoy him for what he is, a bloody good player. I don't mind paying every week to watch him.

Kevin Bremner and Nelson did not cost millions. Their transfer fee's were not much for the time period.

Not really. I would love the bloke to make it work, but apart from a good work rate he brings very little to the team. He has to go for the sake of his career

Now you really are talking crap. He's been here 1 season. Se's scored 11, has a fair few assists and is second in that player ratings electronic pro zone thing for accurate passing, running, tackling, assists and goals.

It's just the price tag talking with you, why on earth would you want this player out of the club?

Better off getting rid of Ankers and getting a proper keeper as competition to Brez than getting rid of CMS.

Sorry but this thread is utter bollocks by JCL's

He creates as well as scores, Really? He does neither. He has changed. I could form a list of 20 players who could do a better job. You are talking like he's actually really good..... Which worries me

Go on then, 20 players ( make that strikers in the championship that are better than CMS and could be bought for 2-3 mil)

Good luck, I'll check back in the morning.

Why do you care about the fee's to justify the player? That a very small time.

We are talking 2-3 mil. Hardly Andy Carroll.

2-3 million is about on par with Andy Carroll when you consider the budget difference. We smashed our Transfer record to bits to land a good league 1 striker. That's where the problem lies. Night :bigwave:

It's clear he cannot play upfront on his own in this division. It's also fairly obvious that our other strikers over the course of the season have ranged from poor to mediocre. I think CMS is a good player who could score 15-20 goals in this division - and that's no mean feat, as apart from Lambert nobody has more than 17 at the moment. But we must play two upfront for it to happen and the other player must complement him. I look at Jason Roberts tonight and wonder what CMS would be like if he had someone with that presence to do the hard work for him.

Annoying as Roberts was tonight he certainly did a job for Reading. Roberts or Vokes ? No contest.
I don't want to see CMS go though. Just get him some support for next season upfront but that will depend on the earlier debate about getting in an all round midfielder and not just 2 who are there mainly to protect the back four.

I'm not a JCL.

I hope he comes good but from what I have seen not so sure he can be a top half championship striker.

There was a point tonight where he was running towards the by-line with the ball but the defender very easily muscled him off the ball and he just threw his arms up and gave up.

That was the point i gave up on him. His first touch is awful. And there is only so much running around you can accept without scoring goals.

to be fair, ( and i love the bloke), this has become increasingly more obvious as the season has gone on. going down easier, outmuscled easier, etc, obviously very short on confidence and form.
feel for te bloke really, just not really gone his way...

We didn't play much quality up to him though, did we. We are a very good team until the final third. Dicker made a real difference tonight, but we're not penetrating enough. CMS needs balls through for him to thrive, and balls across the box. He didn't get any sort of service up front tonight, that's the long and short of it. We're very good until the final third.

I agree wholeheartedly. Fair play to him (CMS) for giving it his all again, but the brand of footy we're playing really doesn't fit in with his strengths. I think he may well be looking to move elsewhere at the end of the season tbh. Hey, but that's football innit...

This has, unfortunately, been the ultimate riches to rags story. CMS turned up, was on all the promo material, retweeted the hell out of everyone on Twitter, ran his nuts off, was last off the pitch from applauding the fans, scored crackers against Palace and Leeds, chased EVERYTHING, saved several Korean orphans and made a couple of pandas mate.

However as the rest of the team has grown in to the Championship he has shrunk like a disappearing erection in an all-male bath house. He traps it further than I can pass it, can't finish and is owned by every Centre Back he encounters. Chatting on the way home with my ST mate he asked who I would bring in during the close season. I said 2 new strikers in the heat of the moment. This morning I still think 2 new strikers. He doesn't even do very many retweets any more....

How about an all round forward?
Our style fits with a forward who can hold the ball up and link well with the midfield. If CMS had that as part of his game then it would be a different story.

I think he is quality but we don't play to his strengths and he does not fit our style of play. It really is that simple.

I said since the first few weeks he wasn't the player people believed. A few early goals hid the more basic elements of his game - especially that he can't control a football or pass it straight. Basic elements in the way we play.

As you say, he's got worse as the season has gone on

Strange I thought Dicker was poor tonight. Far too many misplaced passes which is a trend with him.

I agree, thought he was by far our worst player tonight. And his attitude in the last 10 mins when he clearly couldnt be bothered to chase back when he lost the ball to the Reading full back was a disgrace

:lolol: We have very different eyes.

Earlier in the season I thought Dicker added nothing to us, and he was just getting in the way of Bridcutt. Tonight I thought he moved the ball really well and drove us forward, first half more than second. I think he tired quite badly from about 70 minutes, but we had no option to change him. First half I thought he was very good. I sit in the middle of the east, he was doing a lot of work directly in front of me. I thought he was very good overall, really pleased to see him back.

Remind yourself who wanted to sign him from us last year - Coventry

He had been out for six months, and then played two full games in four days. No wonder he was knackered! He should have been taken off for Assulin - no idea why Gus took Barnes off

Darren Ferguson you must have been having a laugh in the Executive Lounge at The Amex tonight. Or was it a case of seeking CMS on a loan basis for next season?

I have watched CMS at home every game this season & quite a few away games too. I have not criticised the player until now! Sorry Craig, you were the weakest link tonight. The boys played a blinder yet you did nothing. I am fed up of you running around like a headless chicken. You cannot hold the ball & when you do get near to the goal, hardly threaten the goalie. What? 12 goals this season, in a team that is 7th!!! You are not up to Championship football. You were not up to Championship football with Peterborough yet everyone at the Albion thought that this was because you were in a 'weaker' side.

Tonight was probably our best home performance of the season. All our players had a blinder, except our centre forward. Even Gus seems to have recognised that you are not up to it, having subbed you.

I maybe ranting, however, I have bit my lip until now. Ferguson you can have him on loan, better still make us an offer, even if it is one lower than what we paid. The rest of the team deserve better.

I presume I will get slaughtered by those who 'love' CMS, however, as far as I am concerned, the love affair has gone. Time for player & club to move their separate ways.

Cant argue with any of that. Cms was and has been way below the standard required a for a decent striker in this league. There cannot be any arguments with this post.

Not sure what game you were watching but there were a few crosses that went straight across the face without so much as a striker in sight. No point putting wingers on the pitch if your strikers are not clever enough to get into decent positions to convert. This is what happens when you negatively play 1 up front.
