I thought he played well tonight. He chased down every ball, worked the defenders and done everything he was meant to except score unfortunately.

I thought that to, and he is probaly the best player in the team.....

WITHOUT the ball at his feet, but like the original post i agree that him holding up the ball and getting his shot away is bettered by a fair few players and for £2.5 million + exceeding costs that isn't good enough for me, even know I wan't to love him he does make it hard to

You dont half talk crap. first 10 mins, his lay off play, movement and quick tempo was why we were pressing from the front. he deserved a penalty, would of scored in the second half if they didnt have the best keeper in the league.
he doesnt need to be tht typical target player when hes got vicente playing off him, its his job to run in behind and get the loose balls, which tonight didnt happen because federici rarely palmed or droped the ball.

ur comments are a joke, as is this thread.

want paynter back? or chris wood maybe? thought not.

It seems you're in a minority, and no I'm not talking crap. His job is to play football, link up play when asked and score goals. He scuffed one chance, and apart from that routinely failed to control the ball.

I wish we had Sharp, we'd have no problems then.

Why do people hate on Barnes but worship CMS? It is just because he is CMS that people love him.

I for one just love CMS & really appreciate the effort he puts in. However, if he isn't given the service, he won't score goals, will he? He was playing far too deep (& that looked pre-planned) & got bundled over by the big defenders. Did you notice though, that whenever he harried Reading's goalie the guy kicked the ball badly & we usually won it? I suspect that if people go on being negative about him he may go - & by now he may want to, as I suspect he's losing confidence - but if QPR went down & Zamora felt like returning & Gus wanted him, CMS would get some great passes aimed at him! Remember Michael Owen at L'pool? He was in there when the ball was fed to him right at the front but no-one is doing that very often for Craig, so he's not going to score much. Can't say I'm that keen on Vokes, he looked a bit lazy previous home game. Keep CMS but give him the service.

Also, Dicker looked rusty & not match fit. His passing was poor & I wish we'd kept Razak a bit longer to give Gary more time. Kaz is too selfish at times & needs to learn to pass a bit more but love the energy he gave when he came on & Vicente was good but got caught a bit too often for my liking. I've no gripe with Barnes but his fall & then pretence of a foul irritated several in the East Stand! We missed Bridcutt too much, I think.

Look we're not brilliant at the moment but look how far we've come. OK, we were L1 Champions but Soton & Reading have the Premiership experience we don't have & that takes time to achieve. We need to support our team, be proud of them & the Amex!

CMS is one of many players I am so proud to have as ours this year, I do not think I have ever seen a more talented overall team play for the ALBION.

CMS is a fantastic bloke and if you are ever near him he will talk happily with you about all things football. If he keeps working as hard as he does he will score goals wherever he is and in any league, lets hope its with us.

GUS is learning all the time and he will not rest until he gets it right.

Get behind the players, enjoy our incredible journey, cannot believe we only have 3 more trips to the AMEX left.

This has, unfortunately, been the ultimate riches to rags story. CMS turned up, was on all the promo material, retweeted the hell out of everyone on Twitter, ran his nuts off, was last off the pitch from applauding the fans, scored crackers against Palace and Leeds, chased EVERYTHING, saved several Korean orphans and made a couple of pandas mate.

However as the rest of the team has grown in to the Championship he has shrunk like a disappearing erection in an all-male bath house. He traps it further than I can pass it, can't finish and is owned by every Centre Back he encounters. Chatting on the way home with my ST mate he asked who I would bring in during the close season. I said 2 new strikers in the heat of the moment. This morning I still think 2 new strikers. He doesn't even do very many retweets any more....

Agreed - along with a top notch keeper please.

Thought CMS had one of his best games of the season last night. Was in and around the action all the time.

there were plenty of decent crosses he got no where near - barnes was more threatening and again when he did get a clear cut opportunity to score from 8 yards out he fluffed his shot.... again. We got mugged paying premier league money for a league 1 striker.

It's not premier league money though is it? His price tag is what you pay for a Championship striker and we weren't the only ones who thought he was capable of playing at this level (which incidently i think he can, but not in our style of play).

No doubt, CMS had struggled but then so have all our central attackers Barnes, Vokes, Paynter etc. I think Gus's style of play is unlikely to suit anyone other than a continental striker Spanish, Italian, German maybe English centre forward players don't play his style. He wants to play like Barca who have no central strikers, all their goals seem to come from midfielders or wide men, best not to waste money on a No 9 who we don't use (or even seem to know how to) and buy foreign players or pad the team out with more attacking midfielders.
First touch of all the players was poor last night, that's one thing Gus should work on bigtime.

Very much this, I'd also like to add that he has scored ten goals this year if you take away Barnes pens he is our highest scorer all that playing in the wrong position! He isn't a loan striker we need to bring in a second quality striker for him to play with.

Re your points:

1/ You were obviously not around in 1979-1983 or when we went to Wembley in the early 90s for the playoff final.

2/ Delighted he is a very nice man. Doesn't help on the pitch though!

3/ Agreed. Yet the season is almost finished & so is CMS with us (hopefully)

4/ Agreed & always do

The player is not up to Championship football either with us or Posh. League 1 beckons or a struggling Championship team at best.......unless Gus changes our tactics up front, which he won't - cos he is a stubborn mule!

Christ your a bundle of fun.....

I was around in 83 and 91, but you simply cannot compare the 2 era's of football, its light years better now than then in my opinion.

Its my belief it would be a gigantic mistake to let CMS go until we have built a team capable of playing with a genuine 2 up front.

I bet opposition defences bloody hate it when he plays against them.

I agree not the best finisher but defenders playing against know they have been in a game!

Well yes, £20k a week is a joke....as that's NOT what he is on. I would love to hear what you think Vicente is on. You would be pleasently suprised.

Also, please entertain me and provide some examples of these MISSED SITTERS that you so confidently claim to have witnessed. My eyesight must be really bad for 25 years old.

so why dont you pleasantly suprize us with your knowledge of the wage struckture?

I'm in no position to say the in's and out's of the wages, however I feel it's right to correct someone if they are using incorrect/inflated wages as a justification for criticism.
