I think both Barnes and CMS will get better service from the backs and wings this coming season and get a shed load more goals. I'm just glad no one is after Barnes.

This ..

I think CMS and Barnes with the right service will get more goals this season.

I was at Maidstone yesterday and watched CMS as closely as I could. My observation would be, that on at least 3 occassions the ball was played up to him and he laid it off to Nooney and went for the return ball behind the defence. Only for Craig to turn inside and play a short square ball inside. CMS was showing signs of frustration at this. Admittedly Noone was playing on the right rather than the left. Think if we get quick ball to him it would lead to more chances/goals for him.

Interestingly second half we moved the ball so much quicker and goals followed!

Think Nooney needs to look up a bit more often.

If Gus can get a top quality live wire midfielder and gets Barnes further forward then I totally agree with looney and both will score goals

We're not gonna get offered 3 million for him after a disappointing, for whatever reason, season. I hope he gets the chance to shine this year, he appeared to totally lose his way after a great start. But then so did the team. We need to show a bit of patience, this seems to be a problem for too many of our current fans.
We were offered £3.5m + a player for him in January when he was aready well into his non scoring run. I think he still has a lot of cache, another season like last year and maybe not.

Sounds about right, Noone is vastly over rated by many on here....third choice wide man for me every time, or even fourth if Vicente plays in his natural position, which is wide left midfield.

Yep that's about it and like has been said we need to get the ball moving much fast when attacking,CMS is someone who wants to continue moving forwards hence the one two frustration.

Thought that was just a rumour?

It was true.

Personally I think CMS doesn't fit into the way we play as he needs to help build up the play. His first touch was consistently poor last season. However, I do think he would fit right into the way Warnock plays - a little more direct. It could be a win-win if we get McCormack for CMS. Good deal for all parties IMO

I think people are seeing what they want to see. McCormack and CMS are very similar players, and I would much prefer to have CMS. I don't get this desire to get rid of him after 1 season, we were bedding ourselves into a new league, and we did well. It was a tough campaign for him and I'm sure this one will allow him to really show what he can do, we have a higher standard of player throughout the team now and I think the whole team will be 5/10 yards higher up the pitch and he'll see more of the ball in areas where he can do some damage.

I tell you what, we need to pick up more points on the road next season, and a part of that is counter-attacking. CMS will rip teams a brand new arsehole if we learn to do that.

although many on here don't rate him, I think he is a brilliant player for his age and the price we got him at...and improving every year! need to hold on to this gem!

My worry is IF true, I could see CMS doing a Jason Roberts and will rape teams in the Championship taking up Leeds as a one man team!

I would however be surprised if this happened!

Steal for Leeds. 2million + McCormack for CMS is fair :D

I wouldn't be surprised if this came to fruition. Gives Gus an extra £2M to bring in a 2nd striker and allows Barnes to play as an attacking midfielder.

Come on teddy boy get real:D

He scored 35 goals for peterborough the season before we got him in league 1,has got into double figures in his two championship seasons in which both times had poor service. He's a goal machine if used properly, the man's record is unreal and not many strikers have that.

Rhodes scored 40 yes but in a poor league 1 and Rhodes could flop in the championship big time and be a one hit wonder, least CMS is consistent and scores goals.

People who say he's not a goal scorer are seriously deluded, not many players can compete with CMS's goal scoring record,it's amazing.

Quality player:albion2:

Just because he hasn't smashed in 20 goals this season it doesn't mean League 1 is his level...

We haven't played to his strengths and he hasn't been amazing but with confidence next season I'm sure he'll be scoring a lot more than the previous season.

If you put CMS in a few other teams in the Championship then he'd score a load due to the fact that some teams suit his style of play, at the moment we don't.

He would fit in at west ham just fine, but he will never adapt to the way Gus wants this team to play

Why is this thread still going.

A club with no money would like to sign our striker, but because they have no money they can't.
