Im sure Terry and Mutts hover over there PCs just waiting for a CMS thread, just so they can lay into him and say he's not good enough.

Pretty embarassing really for supposed Albion Fans.

Come on teddy boy get real:D

He scored 35 goals for peterborough the season before we got him in league 1,has got into double figures in his two championship seasons in which both times had poor service. He's a goal machine if used properly, the man's record is unreal and not many strikers have that.

Rhodes scored 40 yes but in a poor league 1 and Rhodes could flop in the championship big time and be a one hit wonder, least CMS is consistent and scores goals.

People who say he's not a goal scorer are seriously deluded, not many players can compete with CMS's goal scoring record,it's amazing.

Quality player:albion2:

apart from maybe Barnsie and we have him too

Agree entirely, getting boring now. A blind man can see we do not play to his strengths. To say he is rubbish is pathetic. Utter morons.

So I presume the OP got his story from the Mail:

Neil Warnock tracking Craig Mackail-Smith | Mail Online

Leeds boss Neil Warnock is eyeing £3million Craig Mackail-Smith as the club continue talks with Bahraini investors.
Warnock sees Brighton's 28-year-old Scotland international as the striker to fire Leeds into the Premier League and believes Brighton are willing to sell him.
Leeds owner Ken Bates has allowed Bahrain's Sheik Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa to conduct due diligence on the club.

This is the same Mail Online that told us in May that Gus was "on the verge of leaving Brighton" to become manager of either Villa, West Brom or Wolves.

Just because they have expressed an opinion on a player doesnt mean they are wrong, or right, or in any way "worse supporters" than anyone else. Just because a player plays for our club doesnt make him automatically the worlds best player who supporters cant have an opinion on.

The clue is in the word "Supporters"

The clue here is "Mail Online". From someone with experience as to how stories that I've been involved with have been reported grossly incorrectly, I wouldn't trust too much of what they have to say. It's made me despair for the British public as to how passionate and involved some of the Mail comments get based on what is reported with people believing every word 100%.

Difficult one. Lovely guy, cant help but like him, tries his heart out, but if we were offered 3mil to try a different option? Got to take it I think

Straight swap for McCormack wouldn't be a bad deal but I see Wolves are after him now. And swap deals never happen in football & McCormack seems like a mercenary whilst CMS is just a great guy.

Obviously I hope we're able to play to CMS's strengths more, and that when we don't, he's able to change his style a bit more. But if he does go, it should be this:
CMS won't leave until Gus get's his gem.
As Gus has pointed out, decent strikers are expensive and difficult to sign, so if CMS is to go, make sure we have a replacement signed first.

Towards the end of last season I was starting to think the same myself. Now I want to give him one more season, he'll have a whole preseason with us, knows everyone that bit better and visa versa and is obviously more settle in the area (not suggesting he was ever unsettled). I, like others have a feeling it will all come good for him this year. 15-20 goals

What you fail to understand is that "supporters" will have opinions which vary from other supporters"

Whilst we will all Support our players no matter what their ability, it doesnt mean we should delude oursleves that they are better than they actually are.

You've called that spot on. I don't care about them not liking him as a player, I don't even care about them entirely ignoring what was blatantly obvious all last season, it's just the sheer desperation to get involved with every CMS thread to slag him off that is truly embarassing.

Living in Peterborough and knowing the guy that sponsors the shirt, I get to hear a lot about CMS here. He is a great guy and that may be the problem. Posh needed/need the money. The owner an irish property tycoon was/is/has been hit hard by the economic downturn. When they sold him, he was happy to stay but he took one for the club. He was adored here, similar to our Bobby. I have a feeling that he had a lot of baggage with him last year and that with some decent tactical coaching and support he could come good.
I hope he gets another season before being shipped out. As for Rhodes, he is a good player and will score goals in the CH no problem.
