I'm sure this thread has gone on far longer than the OP was expecting or even wanting!
Ive read the majority of this thread and the consensus seems to be that there is something not quite adding up. Either the club have singled one person out for missing a few games and this seems very unlikely but not impossible -or, and IMO this seems more likely- there is something else that the OP, and us, are unaware of.
Its unlikely we will ever know unless this is resolved and the OPs friend lets us all know the outcome and reasoning
It has however been an entertaining read to dip in over Christmas
Hopefully if/when we receive a satisfactory outcome I will gladly update the thread.

When the amex was built many teams had away ends we didn't have any corners. Other teams do ales, lighting, signs for away fans. Munich do 2 of the 3, many teams did at least 1.
Never seen Harvey's on my travels , most away games I have been to the beer in the ground has been poor or non existent. The concourse areas are poor and the view is mixed.

Just far enough away from LDC
The club caught between a rock and a hard place. People complain about atmosphere and empty seats and when club tries to do something about it they are then deemed to be wrong.
I don't think they're wrong for moving away fans. I don't know enough about thos specific incident to know if they're right or wrong. If it is as has been portrayed by the OP then it does sounds a bit weird and likely to be ultra vires

Harveys doesn't travel well. I don't think we do local ales now either as sodexo have trouble sourcing them

But my point still stands when people pick and choose away games they base it on factors including the facilities at the grounds. In the epl we can be choosy who we allow in for home fans amd know most away teams will sell out. Of heaven forbid we drop into the championship then neither are a given

I do largely agree. When I used to do aways it’d mostly be factors like transport (journey time, travel cost, how easy to get to the stadium), kick off time/day of the week, followed by view of the pitch/the stadium.

I think it’s a great thing we provide a good experience for away supporters.

A large part of why we (at least initially) went above and beyond in this respect, with things like themed team colours lighting, local ales etc, is because of the community stadium aspect to the planning permission.

We had to be seen to be delivering a family friendly, community environment and limiting chances of anti social behaviour in and around the stadium. Treating away fans well certainly plays a part in this.

I agree with all that. The Withdean was such an embarrassment. The Amex is a place I want away fans to feel safe and welcome (I mean personally, not football wise of course).

Isn’t the whole point of this thread that they are doing something?

Something that’s to the detriment of paying customers?

And I’m not acting dumb. I’ve made my thoughts on the way the club treats paying fans abundantly clear, as well as my thoughts on the ticketing system we have in place, which is based on my experiences of it.

You’re entitled to disagree, but no one’s yet made a compelling argument to change my mind.
You are on a lot of these threads with similar arguments. Your main thrust seems to be that the club is making these rules to make more money, which is hard to grasp considering that when a ticket is sold on the exchange the STH gets his money back. So I think it's far more about fairness. A season ticket holder gets a discount by buying in bulk, which the rest of us don't get. No one has yet made a compelling argument why that discount should automatically be passed on to a friend or family member of the season ticket holder, so that they can go to one or two games a season at a discount, whilst the rest of us occasional visitors have to pay full price.
