?? We sell out every match.
Really, why is there empty seats around where we are every game? Palace wasn’t sold out was it? Brentford had a host of empty seats around the stadium.

if you are arguing that people buy tickets and don’t attend, then ok, but there Have been games where tickets have been left unsold, even when put in the exchange…I had two of these personally.

Are you expecting a 35k 'sell-out' in a 32k capacity stadium?

People buy tickets and don't attend.
The ticket sale is counted.
The result is the pretendence.
I think this may have been discussed on NSC previously.

If anyone wants to know the demand for tickets they should look at the south stand for Brentford. The away team only took around 2000 seats leaving an extra 1000 to be sold on the open market by BHA. I'd say they nearly all sold as that stand looked full.
So you can understand why the club want every ticket to be used. But as mentioned here, I'm East Upper and fed up with away fans being sold tickets by the club.
You can guarantee at least 3 Arsenal fans near me Saturday and they wont be fans that discuss the game in a sensible way that I can put up with.

I was thinking of starting a thread to discuss how to make arrangements in the rubric of life that satisfy the needs of every citizen.
For example, shoud we keep benefits as low as possible to ensure everyone goes out to work?
Or should we have a large enough safety net to cater for those who cannot work?
And how much should we be paid?
As little as the employer can get away with?
Or as much as the union can squeeze out of the employer?
And should we maximise tax take to ensure an excellent infrastructure, roads, hospitals, schools, police, military and so on?
Or should we get rid of tax and allow people the freedom to pay for what they want and need privately?

In the coming months I am hoping for a resolution to these simple questions.

Happy New Year.

There is no pleasing some, everything would change when we moved to the Amex and many other things have to change again once in the Premier League quite a lot mandatory.

Still if you don't want to watch some fantastic opposition, a season in Europe and players we are purchasing for north of £40m now perhaps being a season ticket holder is not for you.
What are you saying? The club can do no wrong because we are in the PL played in the Europa league once and purchase expensive football players?

Just once or twice… or maybe a hell of a lot more times.
I was trying to be kind.
Not everyone reads NSC regularly.
And many people prefer to come to their own conclusions rather than rely on research and facts.

Is the choice really between the club are 'always at fault' and the club 'can do no wrong'?

Perhaps we need a poll.

That isn't the club selling tickets to away fans.

This is people using a connection with Albion fans to blag tickets.

There are even fans of other clubs who have STs at the Amex.

If stewards are shown away fans acting openly they will be removed.
Have you spoken to a steward?
We see away twats regularly removed from west upper.
Maybe one every 3 or so matches. So it isn't widespread and it is dealt with if stewards are informed.

Unfortunately the 'nobody likes a grass' gene remains prevalent.
Can't have it both ways....

The away fans in the home ends is massively overplayed. And dare I say terrible double standards given how it was encouraged on here for the Europa games, Villa in the FA Cup etc

Thunder Bolt

OK, thanks.

So the exchange opens only when the match is sold out.....so much for a small crowd due to low demand, then.

I did know that the ticket exchange had been open. @Thunder Bolt had put hers on the exchange. (Incidentally @Thunder Bolt did your Palace tickets sell?)

So what we are thinking now is that that more than 1,500 tickets had been put on the exchange and 1,500 of them had not been bought due to low demand, accounting for the low attendance....but....

but , this cannot be the case because if you put a ticket on the exchange it is either bought by someone else, or you end up having to pay for it. In either case the seat is counted in the pretendance (along with the tickets that were not put on the exchange and the owner failed to attend).
Yes, they did.

Or there was the recent Palace game with loads of empty seats 🤔

East Upper and I've mentioned this before. Even emailed the club about it. There are many empty seats around us that have different people each match, 100% not ST holders. They are available on the ticket site from day one of sales.
They've gone to many many Japanese who are great tourists with their bags stuffed from the store and home fans who can only make the odd game.
This season an Ipswich fan who lives local and cames with Brighton fans. No problem and we chatted all game.
Spurs, away fan with what seemed a weekend away. Well behaved, no problem.
Worst was a year or so back when a Wolves fan got in wearing a Wolves hat. Started vaping and blowing smoke in my direction so I asked him to stop. Then he got a pint from somewhere (he must have been a magician) and started drinking it. Called steward over and he was ejected.
I can put up with knowledgable fans who come to support the away team but have a sensable chat about football.
Loud mouths putting down BHA get kicked out.
But back to the point, these seats are sold by the club to away fans, something that I'd get a ban for doing.

On the point of selling tickets to away fans, if someone has a local-ish address and is new to the Albion's database, how do they determine whether it is an away fan or simply a new genuine member coming to their first game? I guess it is a tricky issue to solve.

Wow! OK, so I can see how you deduce the club is selling tickets to away fans in the home seats. But does the club know it is doing so?

To buy tickets in the home end a person has to register to become a fan, don't they? If not we would have all and sundry attending every game.
I became a member at Blackburn some years ago so I could get a ticket in the home end to watch the Albion if I couldn't get a ticket via the Albion.
Not sure how you stop this. The club could make more of the seats ST seats but wants to allow some fan churn by making tickets available ad hoc.

So in fact I don't agree that the club is knowingly selling tickets in the home seats to away fans.
Let alone doing so in contravention of its policy for dealing with ST holders over resales.
I suspect it is simply selling tickets to people who register to be eligible to buy tickets (who are, I suspect, paying for the privilege).
Sometimes said people turn out to be nobbers.

Unfortunately it sounds like your part of the stadium is an area with lots of match day tickets made available.
This increases the risk of the occasional dick head buying a ticket.
In my row in West upper all ten or so seats to my left were taken by people buying on the exchange as the reguar ST holders were not present.
They were all there for the Albion as far as I could tell.

I have to agree that there is very little that the club can do to stop away fans buying tickets. The only thing is that away fans would lie on the purchase page thus throwing them out is quite legal.
Just annoyed that if WE knowingly bring an away mate, lend our seat to a home mate or take the wrong named person we get a long ban.
