[News] Chris Kaba .. Justice served ?

I find it amazing that all this stuff that has come out today isn't allowed to be mentioned in court. Surely it's relevant? I know the trial is supposed to be about this one incident and nothing else, but it feels like the defence weren't allowed to use some pretty significant information.

If a female close to me was raped and that man accused had raped several times before, I'd pretty fuming if that wasn't allowed to be mentioned.

Is it true that BLM are now protesting
Actually happy to do some research for you.

This (below) is from before the verdict (Sept 17).

The BLM banners are actually branded Socialist Worker Party. In other words, meaningless SWP bollocks.

Nothing to see here.....

That's the law. Verdicts based on evidence, not offender profiling.

That's right and proper. And the laws were changed because people were routinely convicted in the past based on 'previous', and the previous was sometimes itself false.

Verdicts based on things other than evidence is called prejudice.

Yeah I get it. I wouldn't like it though

This is very common.

It’s all smiles and pats on the bum as long as you’re agreeing with every single aspect of “the cause” (solidarity and all that) but if you say/do the wrong thing just once and annoy the echo chamber, you’re cancelled.

I don’t think I could live like that, walking on eggshells, scared to say the wrong thing and upset my supposed allies.

J’OB also faces this if he ever mentions atrocities by Islamic terrorists. Accused of all sorts.

We’re in a strange place where the two overly noisy extremes in the UK, think that balanced journalism and the views of the majority should be shut down. They take all the benefits of living in a democracy, whilst hating on our country and the free speech of anyone who has a different view.

Social media, particularly Twitter, is the worst for his.

Social media is so crucial for people’s careers, but they are so burdened by the possibility of one solitary tweet torpedoing their career and livelihood that it becomes one massive echo chamber.

Nothing to see? Au contraire! There's plenty to see - a grand opportunity for a bit of a riot, some cop bashing and a bit of gratuitous looting I should think.

If such information were pivotal.....it would be a tough call. I agree.

I think I'd prefer it to have someone found not guilty, based on evidence, rather than found guilty based on no evidence but consideration of 'previous'.

Consider Winston Silcott. He had previous when he was convicted of murder (PC Blakelock).

"In March 1987, three local men, Winston Silcott, Engin Raghip and Mark Braithwaite, were convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, despite no witnesses and no forensic evidence. The Tottenham Three are Innocent Campaign and the Broadwater Farm Defence Campaign pressed for a retrial. On 25 November 1991, all three defendants were cleared by the Court of Appeal when an ESDA test demonstrated police notes of interrogations (the only evidence) had been tampered with."

It turns out a previous murder conviction was also suspect.

He was certainly a wrong 'un, but . . . . because of the fitting up and the disclosure of previous convictions it is pretty much impossible to determine how much of a wrong 'un.

That's not good for the justice system.

No, I meant there is nothing to see with respect to the American organization, 'Black Lives Matter' or the general trope 'BLM' playing a role in supporting Kaba. Instead it's the soppy-arse SWP again.

And your comments about gratuitous looting are taking the actuality too far and into the realms of lazy racial stereotyping, I fear.

Not sure. There is a lot of precedent for this. I hope it doesn’t come to that and everyone involved can keep level heads. What you don’t want is people bandwagoning a cause they have no real interest in and using it as an excuse for criminality, which we’ve seen happen in the past.

We'll see what happens (and what often happens with anti-police or 'X is innocent' type demos) regardless of colour, religion, or which end of political extremism.
Calling the race card when inappropriate benefits no-one (except those trying to stir up racial troubles).

Well, indeed. If people start looting that would be bad. But, again, I'd be inclined to wait for them to start, first.

Fair enough. As noted above, we shall see.

Shortly after this picture was taken, Timmy the Dog was shot 17 times by an armed police officer who mistook him for a banned breed.

No charges were ever brought :nono:
Yes, but he had just mauled George’s face off while Julian, Dick and Anne laughed and quaffed lashings of ginger beer.

EDIT: actually it came out in court that Julian and Dick laughed, while Anne was “keeping cavey”.

Nailed it....

Isaiah Nature, 52, questioned why lethal force was necessary. “Even though [Chris Kaba] was known as a violent man, if this is my job, I’ve got to look at the situation. I could shoot him in the leg, you could reach for the gun,” he said. But while Isaiah was insistent that the shooting “wasn’t justified”, he added: “The police officer is doing his job – you obey the law. The police officers know him as a gunman and a troublemaker – [If I’m a police officer] I’ve got to make sure I’m safe. They were both wrong – there’s no right.”

Meanwhile, race relations activist Lee Jasper, a former policing director for London, called for juries in such cases to hear expert evidence on institutional racism.
“If the rationale is a police officer only needs a reasonable belief to fire his weapon, then it’s tantamount to a licence to kill,” he said. “This verdict will make it absolutely clear to Black communities that when it comes to the Met police, Black lives don’t matter.”

Yes you could shoot him in the leg through the car - that would work just fine 🤦🏻‍♂️

Just like the scumbag did to someone in a packed club 2 days earlier funnily enough.
