I think this execution method has a flaw.

I read today his new defence team had spent months with private investigators investigating the victim's life style and will present "significant inconsistencies in the lifestyle" of her and will also criticise police for not seizing crucial CCTV footage. The former reads to me that they plan to assisinate the character of the victim in the hope the judge will quash the appeal. This doesn't sound like significant new evidence; more a desperate last throw of the dice. But, this is limited information. Let's see what is presented.

Where did you read about this new evidence then? There seems to be various sources that they have got statements from, one possibly being the girl she went to the Police with in a taxi. Presumably, she is a friend so it could be further testimony about her character and previous behaviour but equally it could be about things she said about the event in the cab on the way to the Police. We'll have to wait and see.

This wasn't a thread I was heavily involved with but I made a few statements about I do not like him and wouldn't want him playing for Brighton etc.

I agree with both of those statements.

I do not know him, only as per media coverage, so would neither like nor dislike him if found not guilty. As far as playing for BHA if not guilty and CH and his team think he would benefit us I would accept their judgement. Prior to this case he isnt somebody I had paid much attention to other than being a reasonable goal scorer.

I saw a Wales online article late last night that suggested that Evans team had got statements from quite a number of people known to the girl as to her previous behaviour and character.

I'd rather we signed Obika, or even Best, than Evans.

I don't believe for one minute that the only additional evidence is merely about her past behaviour. I doubt that the CCRC would refer the case just on that basis, as others have said, her past behaviour/character is irrelevant in determining whether this was rape or not. Those statements might be part of it but I suspect there is more information about the night itself. I think the telling part of the report was reference to a statement from the girl in the taxi with her on the way to the Police. At the end of the day, the crucial thing is whether she gave consent or if it was reasonable for Evans to consider consent had been implied. That all comes down to what the girl remembers and if there is evidence she recalls far more than she originally suggested then that, I believe, opens the door to the appeal.

Definitely, the article did go on to say about discrepancies relating to the chain of events on the night. I was merely signposting where the information could be found. I don't think appeal would be granted if there was no new evidence relating specifically to the night in question

Bit disturbing that this new evidence wasn't available at the time. I would think any conversations or people she had contact with either just before or after would have been spoken to. Has someone changed their statement or has this come from the girl since in conversations with people about the night.

Even if she is what most men class as a 'slag' does that mean she can be raped at will?
Just in case you're checking your rights, no BG, it doesn't mean that. And no one said it did. There are just media reports, that's all.

It's all speculation at this point, we don't know.

One for Ched to watch perhaps...

I like it.

But, what if your friend is drunk and asks for tea, and you make them the tea, and give them the tea, and they've about to drink it, but you think they won't remember this in the morning, because they're really shit-faced - do you grab the tea off them and refuse to let them have the tea?

Exactly. Often when SMASHED I'm apparently desperate for a tea and I'll ask for 4 sugars to give me a lovely treat.

However, in the morning I don't remember having that tea, and when I find out I had one with 4 sugars, I'm REALLY angry at the person who gave it to me because I'm trying to cut sugar out of my diet.

In your hypothetical, the friend is drinking the tea themselves, you're not involved in the tea drinking. Step back and let them do whatever they want to themselves.
