but they spend that in peacetime and in wartime?

For gods sake man what are you doing ? Blokki 7 has joined the debate and still you go on....................get out of it quick. These people see The U.S. as the devil. There are no grey areas concerning national interests only Americas prime targets of somehow putting in puppet regimes so that they can get at the booty.
The U.S. has made many poor decisions within its foriegn policy but that goes with the territory of being the worlds superpower. When we were a dominant world force we made more mistakes than they have.

Oh Eastleigh.. It is all okay. No-one has lied to you. It is all as they say it is. No-one makes money from war. The US has the worls interests at heart, It is not about money or power. It is all about helping other people. Go back to bed Eastleigh, All will be fine.

Thanks for the kind words - I suppose the only benefit of my naievety is that I can sleep soundly at night and not spend my life thinking 'they' are out to get us all.

Although still not sure who 'they' are - is it: the US Government (of all political hues); the Royal Family; Jewish bankers; multinational corporations; the global media (still not sure if Al-Jazeera and Xinhua are part of this); the WWF (pandas or Steve Austin I have lost track); arms dealers; the Dutch Royal Family; NATO; the UN; Hanna and Barbera; General Than Shwe; Hitler or all of the above?

They spend a hell of a lot in peactime tis true. But 100's of BILLIONS more over a long drawn out war. Makes those share options look very tasty indeed.

China has supplied military hardware to Burma for decades. It is also true to say that China's economic strategy involves oil pipelines running from Burma. China doesn't give a f*** what is going on there, as long as it's interests (regional stability, economics) are served, which is precisely what the Americans do.

So my point is this: there are many situations where an anti-USA rant is fully justified, so why do it on this thread where China is doing f*** all to improve the situation?

In these uncertain times, I will go for all of the above. I am glad that is cleared a few things up for you.

Is it because the US/WWF etc etc is running the Chinese government as well?

Or is it that the anti-US brigade is so utterly blind in their hatred that Bush must be to blame for everything bad in the world? Sure Bush and the US make mistakes - but this blind condemnation of the US for acting/not acting/secretly acting massively discredits those who rationally condemn the US in certain cases.

You have succinctly put what it has taken me thousands of words to try and get through to ole Nibble. Nice one.

Disney, Shell, Fox, World bank, federal reserve, Glaxo-Smithklyne-Beecham, to name but a few and yes, they have strong ties with our government.

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck - as well as the Pandas - is nothing sacred in this world? I was joking when I spilled in Hanna Barbera in my earlier list but perhaps I was right!

I would call Nibble many things, but never a brigade.

I sense a wind up. You are all in this together. It is a conspiracy and it will not stand. I know all about you people and one day, one day man, you are all gonna see the truth. Disney, WWF, NSC- you are all the same person. Oh God - It is all coming true. The truth will out.

Well well well, deabte ensues on NSC and suddenly the whole thing is polarised into 2 extreme camps. Eastleigh making out Nibble is psycho conspiracy boy rather than someone who perhaps doesn't put his point across so well that there is a fair bit of curruption in the world while Nibble's posts tend to hint at someone who believes in elements of conspiracy theories more because he wants to rather than actually does.

Perhaps if Eastleigh stopped the mud slinging and Nibble posted more on curruption than conspiracy there may be some middle ground.

I AM NOT POSTING CONSPIRACY. I have rubbished conspiracy countless times. To outline my entire theory would be to post an entire alternative history for the twentieth century detailing banking deals, government policy and global corporations in one post, an impossible task.

Mud slinging? really? I thought i just called one of the anti-US crowd to ask for some facts to be stated instead of the usual - 'global crisis - the US must be to blame' diatribe?

And can you relaly blame me for calling somone a nutjob when they claim the WWF and Disney are to blame for the world's evils?

And I really dont think mine is an extreme position. My concern with posting on this thread is that the crisis in Burma can only really be solved by China - and the 'blame US' bent of so many people doesnt do a lot for this crisis and allows China to continue to work for its own benefit in the background while the US takes, for once, unwarranted flak.

Shell oil has a sharehold in Disney, Disney runs 25% of the worlds media companies, including Britains very own GMTV. Not as weak a link as you might think.

not that I dont believe you - but could you source those facts for me? I suppose as Disney is a listed corporation anyone can own stock in them, although it is a bit odd unless you go back to something like Shell's pension fund invests in Disney - but running 25% of the worlds media? By number of stations, number of viewers, help me out here.
