Indeed, and the players had plenty of chances to do exactly that. How is their failure to hit the target* on Fab?
*Do the job for which they are handsomely rewarded.

It’s not fully on him but coaching players and teaching them the skills to improve, especially in scoring, is absolutely part of his job.

He did defend when we needed to avoid a smash and grab though, I imagine Lamptey would have not done as well
He made an excellent last ditch header, for sure. Hilariously, that counter only came about from him being caught miles out of position.

I’m not saying he played awfully, but there were quite a few moments when he got caught out, which I thought was uncharacteristic for him.

He was typically dreadful going forward though.

Mark Clattenburg clarifies that under the rules of the game, no contact equals no card.

That's not what was voiced and agreed by Glenn Murray and Thomas Frank in the post game analysis.
Both agreed JP should have been red carded (intention to hurt an opponent). Fortunate either way.

Good performance and should have won, but decision making around the box is abysmal at times. Fab played a team we all wanted and they did everything right except the most important part. Verbruggen and trying to draw players in to press is a crock of shit.

No excuses but he was being tugged, pushed and impeded and his fore arm smash missed, he would have been sent off if he’d timed it better.

You cannot coach anyone to score when the ball is at their feet /head and miss the target - it's on the player.
What we seem to lack is confidence, simply because we don't take our chances.
Imagine how Man City feel, with the quality they have? Is that because Pep isn't coaching/teaching them?
Nah, they're having a bad spell....as are we.
It's not on the manager in the slightest. (Re: Lack of scoring)

I think it’s fine until you’ve been trying to do it for 30 minutes and the opposition still haven’t taken the bait.

Why, because he was caught out of position multiple times, and misjudged the flight of the ball on multiple occasions? As well as offering nothing offensively?

If Lamptey had put in that performance he’d have had people calling for him to be sacked.
I think you need to be picking on our shit attacking rather than defensive frailties tonight

I’m not picking on anyone. I thought we played relatively well, particularly first half.

I just personally thought Veltman was one of our weaker players. Part of that is his inability to progress the ball effectively down his side, but he made a few mistakes too that he was lucky they didn’t punish. I’d have still given him a 6 or 7 out of 10 in the first half.
