No desire, no intensity, no passion, no killer instinct, awful second half, truly shocking. The players must be being instructed not to take people on one on one and put high floated crosses into the box, both tactics that don't suit our players. Plus this SLOW playing out from the back is just asking for trouble. I don't mind playing out from the back and understand the idea of trying to bring their players on to us to take 3-4 out of the game but it's still causing us more problems than creating opportunities as when we do break the press we don't get forward quick enough and allow them to regroup.

I've been chastised since saying after the Chelsea match that our manager isn't up to this level of football, is tactically clueless and nothing has changed my mind since. We get worse every week it seems and good players are looking so average. We just look so knackered, maybe he's overdoing the training intensity or something as we just can't sustain any sort of intensity for more than 45 mins
I disagree with everything you say

I’m not sure if there’s something wrong with me or my perceptive skills?? Perhaps my other half is slowly drugging me via my herbal tea addiction… but I thought we played well in the first half and dipped in the second, whilst looking reasonably dangerous until we had a shot … which, alas, were either weak and/or lashed uncontrollably over the bar into outer space… for that I’m blaming the players, plain and simple… as for Pedro, that attempted elbow thankfully was as on target as his overall performance…

What is apparent is that we vastly over paid for some of new ‘talents’ and Pervis has lost so much pace it’s painful to watch… really sad… not sure that’s on Fabian really.
I think you've just about summed it up. Although presumably the reason we take ages to get in front of goal, and then fanny around is part of the 'process' rather than just the players?

We were sooo slow tonight, Verbruggen what was he doing holding on to the ball for so long. It's frustrating and another 2 points dropped. All good except final 3rd. When we play inverted wingers they always seem to hit the ball with their weaker foot in good positions.

Oh; he’s part of the process and thus he’s part of the problem… but in reality tonight we didn't win because the players failed to convert several superb opportunities and present further superb opportunities from several promising positions.

a few positives tonight, mainly solly, but i can’t quite fathom how the management decided we’d be best served attacking a packed brentford box, playing nearly on the halfway line, pinning them into their own half and hoping to break them down, when it’s obvious that’s exactly what brentford would want us to do. let alone doing it when we don’t have a single natural striker on the pitch. lunacy.

There were positives but without any obvious discernible coherent plan. There is a lot of talent on the field that doesn't seem to know exactly where to move or pass and also appears terrified to shoot. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result. I was against any knee-jerk reactions after Palace but now I have some serious concerns that the manager just isn't ready for competition at this level...

It's simply because we have next to no movement from the midfield centrally,as we did with Gross and WBG, to give the defence an out option.

I think he holds onto the ball to draw the oppo players in then play an incisive pass forward thus taking said oppo players out the game. Thought he did well under the crowds impatience not to make any clangers

But I suppose the only way of not doing that would have been to invite them to attack us - but given how we've defended recently, that might not have been a great idea either. Verbruggen did try and tempt them, but they weren't having it. So - it's difficult for us to play on the break because they rarely committed to many men forward. And anyway, on the odd occasion we did play on the break, we messed it up.

"Frustrating, we're in a sticky patch at the moment and can't get a win."

"You look at the games we've not done enough in and dropped the intensity. You look at the stats and at the start of the season we outran teams. We looked at the stats and the games we won we ran more than them, and the games we haven't won we ran less."

"We've got top, top players."

"We knew they'd be man for man and would get bodies behind the ball. In the second half we lost patience and tried to do individual things."

"I'm buzzing for Solly March. A second ACL, two operations, did he think he'd even get back at one stage?"
