And never would have been flagged as offside pre-VAR.Not one player on the pitch would have thought it was anything like offside.

Hardly. He was previously booked for an outrageous dive. That prevented him from making the outrageous dive you were calling for.Sarmiento should've gone down on his arse. Too honest. Although...it's against Arse, so no chance of getting a pen even if he'd been hit.
And that is the problem with this nonsense interpretation of "clear and obvious." For 99% of people, clear and obvious means that everyone in that stadium knows the decision is wrong. When 99% are none the wiser, like with Mitoma's second, that's not clear and obvious. Not one player on the pitch would have thought it was anything like offside.
City will probably have to beat them twicecant see Arsenal getting caught , champions elect
My point exactlyHardly. He was previously booked for an outrageous dive. That prevented him from making the outrageous dive you were calling for.
The rule is bullshit and its applied selectively by microscopic nazi officials hell bent on ruling out good goals and making themselves the story.Biased to the big teams how that can be ruled out is pathetic and so frustrating even though a small change we might of got a point

Clear and obvious doesn't apply to offside though. Having said that should still stand imo.And that is the problem with this nonsense interpretation of "clear and obvious." "no way a booking, but if he hadn't been on a yellow it may have been" - strange logic from the co-commentator (Dixon?)Saka was lucky not to see a second yellow.
Of course, clear and obvious error doesn't apply to offside. Though I do think these incredibly marginal ones that nobody notices shouldn't come under the remit of VAR. These armpit, or heel, offsides do nothing for the game. If the officials don't refer for offside I don't think it should be givenAnd that is the problem with this nonsense interpretation of "clear and obvious." We gave a great account of ourselves against an excellent Arsenal side. With Ali Mac, Caicedo and Welbeck, that would have been a different scoreline. Delighted for Evan as well - I know this is kneejerk but I'd have him over Undav and can see why De Zerbi has done so.
