Thoroughly entertaining if frustrating game. Three poor/unlucky goals to concede. A stirring fightback, edge of the seat chances and a grandstand finish denied by a shit(if technically correct) VAR decision.

I thought Gilmour looked ok on the ball but I'd hope that if they needed any convincing then today should have highlighted to the club just how important the midfield axis of Ali Mac and Caicedo is.

Really happy for Ferguson to have scored and he was a gazza stud away form a second. If we manage him right we'll have a very decent player there.

Thought Arsenal were excellent, particularly in the first half where the game was won. We struggled with their shape and press - that said both goals were disappointing to concede.

Mitoma - my boy - is class. Comfortably our best player. Trossard had another very poor game, unfortunately. Body language was extremely negative again tonight.

Ferguson looked impressive, but we mustn’t push the guy too hard too fast. Look what happened with a certain fellow Irish striker brought into the first team and pushed too far too soon.

Much prefer an inexperienced striker than an experienced non striker playing up top. Made a big difference. Good to finish a game with optimism. I wouldn’t like to be in Everton’s shoes on Tuesday.
Yes mate. Agree with that. we've been crying out for some presence up there. Someone who can occupy a defender. Trossard looks lost up there. He's painfully out of position.

Ferguson won't always come off, but he's shown what he can add. If we're not buying anyone, he should be starting most games

Loads of positives from today for us I think.

Missing key players yet never were we completely outplayed. In fact, we probably had the better of the game against the team top of the league. Simply terrible defending for their first three goals especially.

Youngsters got a run out and all did ok.

Mittoma continues to frighten the life out of anyone he runs at.

Superb character from the whole team to keep fighting right to the end.

Young Billy Gilmour stepped up when called upon.

I'll take that today in the context of the season so far.

The rule is bullshit and its applied selectively by microscopic nazi officials hell bent on ruling out good goals and making themselves the story.

Rule should be similar as for the ball, if any part hasn't crossed line it's in.

If any part of a player is onside, they should be deemed onside.

Guarantees more goals and players being the story, not idiots in dark rooms with video monitors.
Eventually the games will be run by machines with zero margin for error. We will see the end of the big 6 bias as machines are soulless and will continually learn from their mistakes. A penalty will always be a penalty, a dive will always be a dive and Joey Barton will always be a thug.

Imho our 3 best players are Caicedo, Mac Allister and Veltman. Arse lucked out massively with Mac A’s WC leave and Caicedo’s 5th yellow. Leaving no pace or power in CM, no specialists to protect the defence.

Then the madness of starting Lamptey over the brilliance of Veltman.

Take the 3 best players out of any EPL first 11 and it’s a game changer.

A loss was the obvious outcome to anyone who knows the value Caicedo, Mac Allister and Veltman.
I listened on the Albion website commentary and they said Veltman had taken a wack at Saints and suggested he might have been rested because of this.

I bet the bloke on VAR wanked himself silly after realising Mitomas studs were offside,oh mum look at me I've just sucked the very life out of a football match that could have been one of the greatest comebacks on live TV.

For the love of the game of football just bin this VAR shit it's killing the game whoever you support.
