Out of interest, when you thought it all through and did the maths, roughly how much of a hit did you expect the UK economy to take as a result of voting to Leave? Or, to put it another way, what in your opinion is the maximum price worth paying for "full extrication"? 10pc of GDP maybe, or 15pc? More?

Where on earth did you pluck those wildly exaggerated figures from? The German equivalent of our IFS estimated that with new trade barriers the actual Initial GDP loss for Germany, France and the UK will be around 0.5% exactly the same figure is argued by Dr Graham Gudgin, senior economist at the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Business Research (CBR). And that's before we sign our first independent trade deal......so where is this fantasy 10-15% from? Surely not the project fear mongers, who've got every prediction bar none wrong and who actually had to apologise publically about wildly inaccurate predictions.

Nobody suggests the short term is going to be totally easy, but neither will lorries be parked on the M20... The long term prospects are hugely beneficial..... Ever left a job for one with better prospects?

He is just describing the proces, he wasn't saying we would leave on no deal, also there is absolutely no context to that clip whatsoever, what does he say after the clip abruptly clips? Of course a deal could be negotiated in that 2 year period, it has, or it could be extended, it has.

Regardless, no one has ever voted for no deal/WTO terms. Just because you voted to leave and wanted no deal doesn't mean you voted for no deal.

The ballot paper was explicit: do you want "to leave the European Union" how could anyone interpret that as half in half out? It's clear.

No different from saying "I want a divorce" and then someone tell you later, just because you asked for a divorce, you didn't actually ask to leave the house or not have sex again..... kinda obvious?

The EU were against Scottish independence, as they are Catalunya from Spain.

Shirley political unions, whether they be in the form of the UK or the EU, are a good thing. Yes or no?

Yes AND no. Depends on the nature of the union. The UK, as a member of the EU, has its own head of state, armed forces, taxation policies and foreign relations. England, as a member of the UK, has none of those things. It doesn't even have a parliament of its own.

As it happens, the absence of the apparatus of a nation state hasn't affected my feelings for my country over the years. But it is surely wrong to suggest the two unions are in any way similar.

Agreed, but it was the only variation the Tories would agree too. One year into the coalition and Clegg's goose was already cooked as at the time of that AV referendum he was reaping the backlash for the tuition fees capitulation.

Had AV got in I suspect it would have been the first step towards PR, however British voters like their politics in binary black and white, and look where it's got us now.
Indeed.

Nobody voted for a "deal" which is not a deal but an internationally binding treaty.

I voted to leave on WTO terms (which is what is now branded as "no deal") and then to negotiate free trade deals all over the world and also with the EU, and I know loads personally that voted thinking thats what a vote to leave meant, a clean break.... many voted for full extrication from EU, both political union and trading/customs union. Don't get brainwashed by the obfuscation from the media.

Leaving without signing a binding international treaty with the EU, does not stop us making future trade deal with the EU and the rest of the world, and nobody would suggest that we would not work with our close allies in the EU on a whole range of international organisations.

This has been posted before of all the condescending lying referendum over turners.... but if you watch, go to 1:43, Cameron is pretty explicit is he not?

Absolutely stunning that you used the term "brainwashed" in that post. The definition of irony.

So easy to say, yet very hard to show how.

Here's an interesting thought....Cooper's bill got through by a single vote, so we will be going back to the EU and asking for yet another extension. What if the EU reply with "yes but you will have to put up candidates for the MEP elections. And we expect those candidates to be committed to a full term in office. The term is 5 years."

ie "yes you can have a 5 year extension."

If it was that or no deal would parliament go for it? We can then spend the next 5 years pretending that we still really are going to leave the EU. No really. We are. Honest guv!

Bottlejobs, the lot of 'em. Not an ounce of bravery or sense of danger between them. This is going to hurt both major parties a lot when the GE hits in the immediate future.

I’m confused, we are told this is a democracy and 52% voted leave so we must.

Yet when MPs voted for options the other night, some options won but needed a majority?

No you didn't.

Don't be stupid..... I voted 100% to leave the EU entirely, political union, customs union, single market..... I knew then that was WTO and had spent a long while researching the implications... So tell me wise internet sage, what else do you know?
MPs are deliberately blocking what was voted for and still what latest yougov poll shows is preferred option.

I like how you picked the one poll out of the data that supports your view and then neglect to mention the others. Let's have a look at the other questions in the survey.....

Interesting how many of the other questions in that survey show that people are very unhappy with the way things are going. Yet you chose not to link to those other questions for some reason.

Could you be any more transparent?

This is entry level stuff. It doesn’t matter what you wanted from Brexit or what you thought you were voting for. You voted to Leave. Nothing else. The vote gave you no other options or promises. Nobody who voted leave could have possibly known what they were actually voting for. That’s a fact.

I’m not sure why you’re showing me graphs. That’s all retrospective information and meant nothing at the vote.

I don't think we should decide to leave without a deal on the basis of the result of one question from one opinion poll!
