The Labour party were in power until 2010, the banking crash as we all know was 2008. Running up our countries debts between 1997 till 2010 combined with the feckless lending of greedy bankers TOGETHER created the need for austerity policies.

Is it wise to talk of the ‘need’ for austerity AND Labour running up debts when the Tories have racked up more debt than every Labour government in history combined?

Ah yes, blame everyone BUT the Tories. Austerity was an ideological choice not a necessity. A choice that failed. But you know, keep blaming Labour and the EU if it makes you feel better.

You may believe yourself to be superior but YOU called me pathetic for daring to disagree with you. Even if I did provide evidence of the Tory debt (for which a simple Google search will point you in the right direction) I’m sure you’d dismiss it as you have the impact of Tory austerity and policy on the rise of poverty in the last 7 years. But since the Conservatives took power in 2010, there has been a steady increase in government borrowing and the UK national debt has increased by over £555bn.

So do you agree with increasing Govt spending and therefore increasing Govt debt, or reducing Govt debt through austerity, or as some might call it, attempting to live within your means as a country ? I'm confused as you seem to be against both options

Yep, seems not to understand the difference between debt and deficit. Typical illiterate socialist economics. Blame the Tories for total debt increasing, yet at the same time oppose any attempt to reduce Govt expenditure.
