Wasn't Brexit all about sovereignty anyway, or are they trying to get us to forget about that?

Then why didn't you write "I wonder how much the EU wasted on this venture"?

You really aren't great at the rhetoric so it would be better if you keep it simple......

Your bias and vacuity are obvious anyway, so what's the point?

Thanks for the thumbs up.... now you try and keep up....

GPSR is applicable to sales in all EU countries therefor all companies will need to ensure that an EU operator is established to sell within the EU zone

This applies to all products exported to the EU from GB , the rest of the world and also from GB to NI

And not just new goods but also used . For example a 50 year old football progamme would also require a product safety operator to be sold online

However as far as I can tell from reading the regulations this does not apply for business to consumers sales within the UK for now at least .

The labour government may have plans to close this loophole and thus cause more expense and closures to UK business's , will have to wait and see .

Not quite sure I follow to be honest. Those immigration figures are dreadful, down 20% (estimated) to 700k this year from the 900k and interestingly there is a big shift from EU migration to those now coming from India, Pakistan & Nigeria etc... I don't think Brexit is to blame for this but a succession of really shit governments. 1.5% population increase year on year from overseas is just not sustainable from a schools, NHS, jobs & welfare perspective without massive public investment and that's hardly likely is it.

Luton closure I thought was due to the UK's high targets for EV vehicle sales? would UK not have been able to set these targets if we were still in the EU ?

I'm afraid the Tories kicked out most of their talent in 2019, we were left with bunch of dishonest grifters. I'll say one thing, I actually think Brexit has damaged the Tories even more than its damaged the country.

But hey, after finally getting a PM via a democratic vote. Let have another General Election!!!

True. In the last 8 years, the Tories have had 5 different leaders, and are now on their 6th.

True. In the last 8 years, the Tories have had 5 different leaders, and are now on their 6th.
And now they've only got 121 MPs.
The ballot box doesn't lie. The electorate has thrown them out.
Many Brexit MPs have lost their own jobs.

Time is a great healer. But it is also a great revealer.
It has revealed that the reality of Brexit is far removed from how it was sold.

what a glorious peice of bureaucracy. it's as if they want to stop online trade or at least restrict it to large players.

I don't have you down as a New European subscriber, so let me help you our with some details here.

Firstly because the Brexit idiots either forgot about Northern Ireland or found it too hard to solve, you will need to be GPSR compliant if you don't sell to mainland Europe but do to the UK if your sales include Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK but also a de facto single market member.

Secondly GPSR's impact, according to William Bain of the British Chambers of Commerce, "will be felt most strongly by small and medium size enterprises and traders". Yes, traders. So, if you want to eBay sell something you'd better hope that you don't have your highest bid from Belfast. It's interesting (actually, it's bleedin' obvious) that the right wing press have been pushing the impact of the budget on SMEs but have strangely avoided this particular topic.

And, as usual, it's Brexiteers moaning the most about it.

I'm waiting for the first poster to tell the Luton workers that they lost and should get over it :wanker:

Fears for Vauxhall Luton van plant's future due to Brexit

The long term future of a major vehicle plant and 1,500 jobs could be put in jeopardy if part of the Brexit treaty is not renegotiated, its plant director has warned. But he said with 70% of vans being exported into mainland Europe, tariffs risked its competitiveness.

Stellantis, which owns Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat, warned it could face tariffs of 10% on exports to the EU due to rules on where parts are sourced from. Mark Noble, who is also UK lead for manufacturing at Stellantis, said: "If 45% of the components of our vans are not from the EU, then you would incur a tariff."

From next year, 45% of the value of an electric car should originate in the UK or EU to qualify for trade without tariffs. This will rise to 65% in 2027.

On the upside, that extra 350 million a week to the NHS has been very well spent.

Even though those shit governments are a direct result of Brexit (or at least the vote for it)?

I do wonder how many more years Britain is going to live in denial, continuing to smash itself in the face economically, until the inevitable happens and we re-join the CU ? (And just how huge the non reversible damage that will have been done to the nation will be by then)

It is truly remarkable the state these two have left the UK in 2024, and there's some for whom the penny still hasn't dropped :shootself
