They can only vote if a vote to have a referendum is passed by the Westminster (ie the UK) parliament. No veto. They can just vote to leave. If we think we subsidise the scots now, wait until we really have to persuade them to stay

Why do "we really have to persuade them to stay".
You can't rule over people who don't want to be ruled. Remember the empire?

Not sure if thats a retorical question so will just say time will tell
Well they have already had a referendum to be independent, talk of another, talk of them staying in the EU and breaking away....so "Why do "we really have to persuade them to stay".
We don't, we can let them go their own way once they vote for it

Yep, which means we really do not need to "persuade them to stay".
Not to mention the outbreak of salmonella it has caused.Oh dear, another deluded person blaming Brexit....

2025 was a joke, but it is as good a guess as any.
May said Article 50 will be a UK-wide thing and will need consent from Scotland. She knows that this gives the nationalists the ammo they need to break away. At the very least Scotland will be afforded some protections to stay within the EU.

Scotland will not be able to stay as part of the EU when the UK leaves and the idea that the UK can part exit with Scotland remaining is laughable. This will result in Scotland having to leave the UK and a new independent Scotland joining the EU as a new member which would require them to take the Euro.
For all her posturing Sturgeon knows this and with North Sea oil posting its first losses in its history the idea that Scotland can cut themselves loose from the UK and thrive under the Euro is simply ridiculous.
I personally believe the more important the decision, the more need for democracy.
64% of the electorate voted against the tory govt in 2015
