Hate to be a pedant, but to be strictly accurate, Cummings and Frost always intended to ditch it. Johnson didn't have the capability to understand it until it was very slowly and simply explained to him, long after he signed it

It's just incredible how brazen that are about saying this now, they lied about brexit being a good thing ( when do many of us knew it would be a disaster ) then managed to lie about having an " Oven Ready " deal then admitted the Oven ready deal was bad/wrong/worthless all along ... where does it end ?

I'm seriously thinking that Cummings is working for the Russians ! Remember his " Lost Years" on his CV that were spent in Russia allegedly trying to launch an airline company that never materialised.... he then came back full of political zeal and was the architect of Brexit thanks to Cambridge Analytica... that success lead to him being asked in to run the highest office of unelected politics and be there in the room in No.10 with access to policy and driving policy..... now he has been dumped by Johnson he seems on a one man mission to destroy the UK Government and our international standing ...... The Russians have achieved more through Cummings than any number of expensive shiny nuclear weapons could have...

And look out for triumphalist headlines in the Mail and Express when (if) the EU's announcements today display flexibility.

On the N. Ireland issue, it seems that the Brexit fanaticEs have never got their heads around a fundamental formula: Good Friday Agreement = no hard border=N. Ireland protocol=Single Market = ECJ jurisdiction. The biggest irony here is that the architects of the Single Market were the Brits (and under Thatcher!).

The other irony is that the good folk of N. Ireland voted to Remain.

EU backing down on the NI protocol

Think its fair to say the NI protocol is a nightmare for the UK government. No petrol shortages, no forecourt fights, no empty shelves and north-south Irish trade is booming all assist by ports prepared years in advance.

Shit its almost like being in the EU customs area in a good idea, we can't possibly have that...

Strange how the residents of NI were completely unfazed by rules being overseen by the ECoJ until the last couple of weeks? It's hilarious that the NI Protocol has worked so well for NI/Eire trade that it has to be stopped at all costs!

Might as well scrap the NI assembly then, I mean what use are they if the ECJ call all the shots :dunce:

Personally I'd genuinely love to hear a detailed explanation of how the ECJ replaces an elected body and what about it is apparently so disgusting from our resident expert *checks notes* PPF

Fascinating to hear Ian Paisley Jr say he was told pre the 2019 General Election that the NI Protocol Johnson was pushing as " Oven Ready ", would have to be torn up or changed as it was unworkable.

So, how many more lies can Tory voters accept from our Prime Minstrel? They are so so far up that tree they are clenching hold of can they ever climb back down? [emoji848]

Obviously a lot of talk this week has been on the NI protocol, its clear most people over there are pretty happy with their special status. They get to keep most of EU benefits, FOM, erasmus, able to export stuff to the world biggest free market without reams of red tape. What's not to like?

Easy to forget that back in GB consumers are still effectively in the EU customs union for most imported goods. Of course this isn't on purpose, its because this shitshow of a government hasn't built any proper border infrastructure so are forced to leave the customs borders open, putting UK businesses at massive disadvantage.

Just imagine the skip fire in UK supermarkets if they were actually implementing Brexit and doing proper, checks, customs VAT?

Cummings is a consummate wrecker. He has almost single handedly undermined confidence in the integrity of UK politics. In his stated view, Johnson is a ‘wobbly trolly’ and Starmer an ‘irrelevance’; he is hell bent on destroying our established institutions, for good or for bad… and as far as I know he has has no acceptable alternative, but seems to be at least partly driven by a sense of his own ambition to hold a ‘central’ place in history.

Well there certainly aren't any of his points that you could take issue with.

He won't care though as he's probably back working hard in the EU now, like most people who have jobs

Can I let you in on a secret....HE DIDN'T ACTUALLY SAY THAT. It's a highly satiric meme.

Sssshhhhh...
