Those jobs are in Rochdale, an area which voted 60% Leave.

Another chapter in the ever-increasing story of "Places which voted for Brexit which end up getting hit hardest". I expect another to be written fairly shortly.

That's the whole tragedy in a nutshell.

someone needs to put this guy straight on 2 points

1. Brexiters knew exactly what they voted for
2. Financial ruin is worth it for sovereignty

Johnson clearly caved in on fishing, but what I'm trying to work out is...what did he get in return for it?

Anyway, as ever compassion for conned, contempt for the conmen. Another group of people whose livelihoods have been ruined in just over a month

Zero sympathy for them and the boat they sailed in on.

Project Fear really was Project Cold Reality.

They knew what they voted for and got it. They could at least show some happiness or what is the point of the whole disaster ?

Good call on the Napoleon complex although there's also a big streak of Alan Partridge on show most days .... a heady mix :lolol:

Anyway back on topic ..

Shares in Swiss companies will once again be traded on UK exchanges after Switzerland’s financial regulator gave the move the all-clear this morning.

Since June 2019, a spat between the EU and Switzerland has meant that the bloc’s exchanges have been banned from Swiss shares.

But with the UK no longer a member of the EU, Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has again approved UK trading venues.

Prior to the ban, London exchanges handled more than a quarter of Swiss shares every day – some €1.2bn, according to the CBOE.

.... Napoleon must have missed this news, too busy reading the Express?

I'm sure the super rich bankers are grateful you've got their backs, we knew you voted to make yourself poorer and the rich richer, not sure it was neccesary to brag about it though :lolol:

Quite right - nothing to complain about at all. They had their Brexit 'done', got the blue/black passports and all the other so-called benefits, so no idea what their problem is.
Move on....get over it.

I don't think Johnson caved in, it was simply that the mythical 'Good deal' that he constantly claimed he wanted never existed

And as far as compassion, I'm sorry but these are the exact people who wanted a referendum. They wanted the power of the vote but were either not capable or not interested in the responsibility that comes with any vote. They obviously did no investigation or research whatsoever on what the referendum meant and what the outcome was likely to be, particularly with regards to their own jobs, careers or industries.

Other people did it for them, pointed out what would happen to them and were at best ignored, or worse, shouted down and insulted.

I'll reserve my sympathies for the people who recognised that there are responsibilities that go with any vote and spent significant time and effort going through large amounts of information to carry out those responsibilities. As a result of that time and effort, they saw what was blindingly obvious, tried to protect themselves from it and yet still got f***ed over by those others who couldn't be arsed.

I'll save my sympathies for those poor sods

If they can't pay their mortgages anymore i'm sure the bank will accept payment by sovereignty.....???

Chicken serious question. Is there anything Johnson has done in his handling of Brexit that you think could have done better?

Or has he pulled off a complete blinder throughout

I won't have that! " Johnson caved in on Fishing" suggests he had some kind of strategy and bargaining position at the start when clearly he had no idea of what he was doing.... Famously he said there would be free and unfettered trade between NI AND the rest of the UK.... And we can all see what happened next!

I think you don't expect a op-ed writer for a newspaper to oversee a major international trading agreement against career diplomats and negotiators without it being an unfair fight.

I think you'll find that it will be Sir BoJo in the near future for his combined firm handling of Brexit and Covid.

Highest Covid death rate of any country >10m
Worst economic contraction in the developed world
Chaotic Brexit deal with nothing for 80% of our economy

Give the Eton boy a knighthood!!

I think lying to the Queen about prorogation might have destroyed any chances of a knighthood but who knows.

The Queen went through with it though didn't she ? besides, it will be Chuck doing the Knighthoods by the time Johnson has done his time in the wilderness after multiple calamities.
