Very selective and very self-serving. Of course, if you look at the whole picture of U.K. manufacturing you will see “UK manufacturing hit by its worst slump in two and a half years”.

https://www.theguardian.com/busines...it-by-its-worst-slump-in-two-and-a-half-years

And the biggest item in your list can be written off as JLR had previously announced “ it is cutting 4,500 jobs, with the substantial majority coming from its 40,000 strong UK workforce.”

There will always be some 'good news' narratives - and we should openly celebrate them.
What I really do not get is how desperately the Leave campaigners cling on to each story as evidence that all is well and we will thrive after Brexit when we haven't even left the EU yet!
I have convincing anecdotal evidence from several people that they have been made redundant as a result of the Brexit uncertainty.
Unaffected and indifferent 'blue sky' Leavers on here would struggle to reassure them.

But I thought firms were pulling out left, right and centre over the threat of Brexit.

Also, our economy was crashing....due to Brexit. Not EXACTLY the case is it?

In general terms, yes it is.
Country is losing 800 million a WEEK because of Brexit uncertainties, im sure the list will make all the difference

I have every sympathy for anyone facing such an ordeal. William Hill employees for example, which has nothing to do with Brexit and, more close to home, my wife currently enduring a similar process. Again, hers is nothing to do with Brexit.

Inward investment in the U.K. shows a year on year decline since 2016. We are currently below the European average. Pointing out some sporadic investment into the U.K. is akin to pointing out that someone who’s fallen off a 15 storey building managed to avoid breaking his right ankle.

On an unusual foray into town for sustenance last evening it was remarked upon as to how full the bars and pubs were with folk spending cash and having fun. Things don't appear TOO difficult right now.

You think Brighton being busy on a Saturday night in July is a sign Brexit is a good thing? Pfft.

An interesting measure of the economy. Not seen this one mentioned in the FT before :lolol:

Political class - I've always just seen it as useful phrase used by populists like Farage to stoke the narrative that the 'establishment' or 'liberal metropolitan elite' are just in it for themselves. Us and them. Very useful with Brexit as it plays toward the tendencies of the paranoid conspiracy theorist believers on the leave side. To go all Jilly Goolden, I think I'm also getting a little subtle scent of anti-intellectualism with the phrase too, not as full blown and full bodied a bouquet as 'experts', but just a hint of it on the palate.

I agree with you but I thought it would be interesting to get the views of one of our political class warriors.

Labour leaders going on again about a 2nd referendum but as yet nobody has shown a reasonable justifiable reason why there should be a 2nd one other than the fact the MPs dont want to sign off the wishes of their constituents and the country in general.

So that voters have the opportunity to vote for or against an actual 'deal' (or no deal if that is the best Boris and chums come up with)?

Do you have sympathy for people who are threatened with redundancy that is caused by Brexit uncertainty though, or do you think they just don't believe in England enough?

Ah, the political class again. How does the political class differ from 'politicians'? What is it, actually? Does it extend from Dennis Skinner to Bill Cash? What about my local councillor? I only ask because we had an old friend from outside the village in our kitchen last night: he walked in, took in the demographic of the half dozen people sitting around, came to a fatally-wrong conclusion and launched into a spontaneous and energetic speech in favour of Brexit. He'd chosen the wrong place for that but before he was felled by amiable fire from all directions (it really was a terrible speech) he managed to use the words 'political class' twice. I assumed they are part of the Nigel Farage songbook to persuade Brexit voters that they are being betrayed by some sub branch of the metropolitan elite, but I'd be grateful for your insight,

Ah, yet another delightful homespun tale about Brexit related encounters. Perhaps you should write a book.

Why don't you get Deutsche bank in on the Brexit blame that's your usual mantra
