Any particular reason why you've used the "Whingeing Pom" expression favoured by some Ozzies?
So, in every scenario the economy will perform less than if we remain in the EU. That will mean less than what we would like to spend on the NHS, Social care, Schools, Defence etc.
I can understand affluent Little Englanders reminiscing about the "Empire", as they will be well off enough to withstand the "overall "reduction, but those at the poorer end of society will feel the brunt of this. The Labour party and in particular Corbyn should be ashamed of their part in the referendum and what has happened since. They have been held captive by UKIPs "wrong" message on the working class.

Exactly. Who suffers "the necessary pain". I suspect whoever they are might like to know - they might not be so willing to take that pain. Lets face it, recession, austerity it has only ever been the poorest in society that suffers pain.

Both sides have certainly said that renegotiation is out of the question, and I understand why they keep saying that, but I do wonder if there isn't a sting in the tail here.
Could it be that May has told Junker that she is unlikely to get the deal past Parliament without a tweak to the backstop, and that Junker has replied that while both sides should continue saying that this is the final deal, if the vote does go against her then, you know, a nod is as good as a wink, let's see what we can do...
I hope I am wrong. I probably am. But this isn't totally implausible, surely?

And you think No Deal is an acceptable option? Every single economist tells us that the UK will be worse off with every option, even more so with No Deal yet you still spout the ramblings of idiots. It would appear from what the EU judges said yesterday that it is unlikely the EU will accept unilateral revocation of Article 50 because - they argue - this would facilitate individual states seeking to hold the EU to ransom in order to extract concessions, thereby weakening the EU project.
I get this, but will they make an exception in the UK's case because that judgement wasn't established at the time May exercised Article 50?
However, if the ECJ agrees to unilateral revocation then in theory Parliament could vote down May's Deal, then pass a motion for a People's Vote, then if the People vote for Remain Parliament simply revokes Article 50 before 29th March 2019 and we carry on in the EU as before?
The People's Vote route is clearly the right way to go, as it would be hard for the EU to ignore a UK Remain vote before 29th March 2019.
No-one seems to be commenting on the government's refusal to release the full, legal advice that it was given re the May deal. This is something that was mandated by Parliament so the government is on very rocky ground here.

If unilateral revocation is ruled out, the EFTA/EEA/Norway+ option becomes the default setting alternative to May's deal.
