Brett Pittman rumour

It was 29 starts, as Turkey stated above. Still a decent return for a young striker, i agree with you about the appearances, as a 18/19 year old he would im guessing be coming off the bench with 5 minutes or so to go. Just a suggestion, but i would prefer Le fondre from rochdale, who always looks a decent player, or Andy Bishop from bury. Neither are proven at league 1 level, but Murray has shown its not impossible, and they both score a fair few goals.

That is great in principle but presumably they would be looking for similar sort of fees as those we paid for Murray for Le Fondre and Bishop. If Murray and Forster stay fit we won't need a first choice forward so should we be spending that much money on, initially anyway, a reserve?

Agreed, im not sure we need a striker, but if we are supposedly bidding for pittman we may well be after one. I was just thinking if we are after a striker then we should consider those two. That Davies guy from shrewsbury should be looked at as well if he is on a free, as its an attacking midfielder we need.

He’d be a quality signing. He came to my attention when he scored a George Weah style goal at Exeter where he started on the half way line and beat a load of players before scoring with a neat finish. One of his goals on the last day against Morecambe was quite special too.

His 17/18 goals over the season shows these weren’t just one offs either.

If Murray and Forster stay fit, going by last season is a very big IF. I might be alone in thinking this but Forster may not be first choice for next season, hes not getting any younger and may find himself being used more from the bench than in the starting line up, he has served this club well, its just a pitty we couldnt have got him when he was a bit younger.

I think the starting strikers may well be Murray and Davies, there is no guarantee Owusu will come back from Oz and that leaves the aging Forster and Hart (assuming he signs). So i think another striker is needed and if this Pittman is as promising as he is made out to be then he may be just the ticket.

Is everyone forgetting Glenn Murray?
Came from Rochdale with relatively the same scoring record as pittman and he is our main marksman now so.

I hope we ARE after this guy... his scoring record is excellent for a youngster, and I would prefer us to avoid the loan system unless to cover injuries, suspensions, etc... last season was a near-disaster precisely because we got in too many loans...

His record at Rochdale was more goals in less games. 1 in 2.
Pitman's record does include a lot of sub appearances though, if you look at it season by season it's more impressive. What I've seen of him he's looked pretty decent anyway.

Not sure we need Pittman to be honest, we are'nt exactly short on strikers, and he is never going to get in ahead of Forster and Murray on a regular basis, he hasn't exactly got the best scoring record either
